Standard/Non Tow Side View Mirror Mod?

Recommended Posts

Just curious if anyone knows whether an aftermarket mod for standard ‘1500’ style side view mirrors may become available at some point for the 2500?

We’ve always had a 2500 because we prefer the size and general burliness of the HD platform but rarely tow with it and I actually hate the newer low slung HD side view mirrors.

I’ve looked at the door panels of the 1500 and 2500 and see pretty clearly the contour lines make the 1500 mirrors non transferable - to say nothing of any issues with wiring harness since the mirrors have diff electronic features.

I'm wanting to do this as well.  These mirrors are ridiculously huge, have a massive blindspot when you're at an intersection and they pop out in a car wash to name a few things I hate about them.  Has anyone tried to install the 1500 mirrors?  It does appear that with the appropriate adapter, the 1500 mirrors will install...

Hi I know this is 2 years later…but I am trying to figure this out.  3 questions for you Arboc:  We’re you able to make that swap in mirrors?  If so, do you have those smaller mirrors that I prefer?  And also,  if your truck came with the smaller mirrors, what is your vin number?  The dealer asked if I had a vin that had smaller mirrors it would be easier for them to find parts for me.

Brandon Serio,

Don't have mirrors to offer, but thought I would advise, if you are looking to trade out your mirrors for the smaller ones, just be careful which smaller mirrors you get.

At time of ordering my '22 2500, I changed out my tow mirrors for the smaller ones, which were described on the GM website as having passenger side convex glass. However, when the truck arrived, I discovered the glass is flat. This results in a serious lack of blind-spot vision on the passenger side. So bad that since receipt I have had to turn out the mirror so far that I have no vision of the truck side or rear tire for backing up, and I have been endlessly searching for a quality add-on BSM (don't like the cheap plastic ones everyone seems to sell).

Just make sure you get a mirror with some form of blind spot capability.

I have a 2021 3500hd SLT and wish I could have ordered the smaller non-tow mirrors. I’m confused by the discussion of mirrors from a 1500 when there seems to be a 2500HD small mirror configuration available that I’m assuming could be swapped onto my truck.

It sounds as though the 2500HD small mirrors from an upper trim model would swap on and the power adjustment, heat, and maybe even folding would still work. Can anyone confirm this for me?  Thanks.
