Do you regret getting a black truck?

Recommended Posts

I love it when it’s clean, nothing better. Unfortunately everything ruins it. Winter you have the salt. Summer you have the rain. Even if it’s a bright clear day, you have wind that will blow dust and pollen onto it almost instantly.

I have tried a healthy coat of wax, and have also tested out some “consumer level” ceramic coatings. The ceramic coating helps a lot with the dust and rain not leaving so many spots, but even still, I don’t think I’ve ever kept my truck looking perfect for more than 24 hours at a time.

I pride myself on being able to shine a flashlight on it and not see any swirls, but this has been hard as hell to keep up with between the extra care anytime you touch the paint, and the constant need to wash it.

As they say...black isn’t a color, it’s a career.

In the early 80's bought a new black camaro.

Loved the car, hated keeping it clean -- swore I'd never own another blak vehicle.

Guess what?  Mid 90's saw a black pickup at a dealer and decided it wouldn't be so bad -- even though by then I was living on a gravel road.

Loved the truck even though I hated the colour.

People tell me NEVER is a long time.

But my plan is to NEVER NEVER NEVER own another black vehicle.

Spending time with the constant washing / cleaning is way more bothersome to me now compared to 25 - 35 years ago.

I'm eyeing on a black AT4. Because it looks great.
But I also know for sure that I'll have buyers remorse before long.
Dammit!

Well, living in Texas, one thing is for certain, when using AutoStart, it takes much less time to cool down my white truck then it ever did in any of my black or grey trucks. Apparently, it’s only going to be getting hotter every couple of years.

When you live below freezing for 5 months a year, black trucks warm up quicker in the sun. Just sayin.

I really want satin steel but there are not any 2020 loaded trail bosses within 500 miles in satin steel

I have had many black vehicles. My 2015 SLT was black and it got looks when it was clean. Especially when I put a level on it. But this Satin Steel has gotten a lot of  attention and people commenting on my truck for the past year now. I'm not sure I would get a black one again after seeing how long this one looks clean!

I have had multiple black trucks. This time around the dealer talked me into the paint protection package. It was worth it. Have yet to notice any swirls or other blemishes.

With all it's pitfalls, I love black!

I used to own black vehicles as I think it's one of the best colors.. However, between all the vehicles (and a black motorcycle too) that I've owned, black got old the quickest. The paint doesn't keep it's gloss unlike the other colors unless you wax it ALL THE TIME. The scratches and a little bit of dirt are always visible. Now I only stick with white cars and I have no regrets at all with white.
