Backlight Buttons on air/heat control out '94

alright guys, this '94 chevy's ventilation control module works.. its the A/C deluxe one, no louvre levers or dials, just electronic buttons and the readout screen... but the buttons aren't backlight like the stock radio is. After fumbling through them in the dark, i learned where they are... girlfriend, dad, everyone else who hops in can't find 'em. I took the module out of the dash and tried takin it apart. just a long chip board, and i can't get behind the housing for the Digital display and the buttons. didn't wanna screw with the radio, probably the same scenario. Dealer down here tried sellin a $160 unit...... i won't pay that money for a few light up buttons when the thing works.

 

do i wait til it quits workin alltogether and then get one that works? or is there a micro light or bulb that i could replace... hope someone here has seen this before~

I am also interested in this. I would like to have a white backlight instead of the green.

Those units sell on E-bay for around $40-50. You should be able to find one there.
