I drove both. They are both solid options. The ram gets better gas mileage with the 10 speed tranny.

I ended up coming back to the Chevy because I didn't like the new Ram front grill.

All trucks have issues. Unfortunately you always hear of the bad stuff first online. You never hear from the thousands of satisfied owners.

Tough Decision Good luck

The GM twins gets much better mileage than the Ram, even if it has the dumb e-torque. Ram is, and always has been much heavier, and the Hemi that hasn’t really been touched/ updated in a decade.

The 6.2 / 10 speed is the best powertrain in a truck by a mile. Obviously the GM trucks have short comings, and compromises, as does anything else. But the powertrain and driving dynamics really sold me on this generation.

I've owned my 19 denali 6.2 4x4 for a few months now and have near 4k miles on it. Last week in TX I drove a ram long horn for the week. 5.7 with 4x4. Nothing about the interior stood out as being that much better. Maybe it was missing some options as it didnt have the larger screen but door and dash materials didn't feel any better and the seats didn't feel any more or less comfortable. I put about 400 miles on it for reference. It was fine but nothing about it stood out compared to my denali. I'm also not a repeat truck owner like many here so all of these are new to me. Needless to say I'm happy with my choice.

My main hang up on the gmc is all the complaints I've heard about sear comfort. I drive about 200 miles a day, it's a big deal to me and pretty much everything I've heard about the seats in the GMC has been overwhelmingly negative.

Honestly cant decide what I'm going to do because the ram reliability problems are pretty hard to swallow regardless of the comfort issues with the gmc.

I've read a lot of comments from guys on here who love the seats in their AT4s. I'm assuming the seats would be the same in the Denali unless that brown leather somehow rides differently?

When its closer to time for me to buy (end of the year), I'm going to try and get one for an extended test drive and hopefully they won't be that bad. There are a lot of things I like about the sierra, i think it is actually more functional when it comes to doing truck things and definitely has a better engine/ transmission setup with the 6.2 liter.

Yeah, I'll be looking for an extended test drive of an Elevation with the 5.3/10 speed, probably once they decide to offer 0% financing.

I had this same dilemma about a year ago.  I didn't want to spend the extra money on a Sierra but definitely wanted the 6.2, so went with an LTZ.  Same overall discussion though.  Read this thread I started:

What is the mission profile for your new truck?  Grocery getter?  Winter ops?  Towing a trailer?  Is fuel economy important?  While the Ram has a lot of bling, in the end I decided that all the problems people have with them just wasn't worth it.  Ram also tends to have very low payload numbers, which is a problem if you tow a trailer, which I do.  But if you're just looking for a daily driver, I'd still stick with GM.  They will get much better mileage.  And you have a wider range of engine options.  For a grocery getter, the new 2.7 is a real good choice.

What Ram did you see with a 10 speed?  I've only a 10 speed in Ford and GM.  I've never seen a Ram with anything more than an 8 speed.  As for fuel economy, Ram has always gotten worse fuel economy than GM or Ford.  The 5.7 is pretty much a dinosaur.

My bad. Thought it was a 10 speed. It's an 8 speed.

I rented a Larimie from Enterprise for a trip in August. Round trip 500 miles and averaged 21MPG measured from the pump. Mix of highway, byway and stop and go traffic. Not many hills as this was flat land headed to the beach.

I was impressed. On the highway stretches it was getting 24MPG by the DIC.

I don't know what RAM did but they have improved things a lot since my last RAM in 2014.

It probably had the base v6 engine, no one is getting that good with the hemi. Even with e-torque lot of people aren't even getting out of the teens.

did you have the big horn or long horn. The long horn is the cowboy version that has real wood inserts etc.

have you seen the most recent trip and mileage the guys did on TFL Truck? I was surprised. 19.2 out of the rebel with a leaving kit and 35s.

Interested in this as well. The RAM’s interior is far nicer than gmc’s at the moment but being a gm guy it feel wrong to pull the trigger on something else even though I’ve had issues with my current Sierra. Definitely torn on what to do.

I am also a Chevy guy and I felt the same way; ended up getting the RST in January. Does the Ram even have a column shifter?   I am not a fan of the big screens and tech in Teslas, Trucks, etc.  I like knobs, column shifters, and just enough rugged luxuries to make me feel like a spoiled B!TCH.  The more tech, the more bugs and issues to deal with.  Also if your fingers are dirty or you are wearing gloves; knobs are preferable IMO.  Both trucks are awesome and I am a bit disappointed in GM for being so greedy with pricing, options, etc. However, after having GM, you might feel dirty or out of place in a RAM.

I owned a RAM limited 2019 Brand New.  Was my dream truck Got out of it nd got into my 19 Silverado and haven't looked back.  Interior of the RAM is INCREDIBLE. Its the NICEST in any truck by a million miles.  Problem is the functionality is far from the nicest. The 12 has issues the app for the phone is useless. They use Guardian that is through Siiruus XM and they are bad enough to have to deal with for the Radio. IT doesn't have any of the info available like my chevy has with gas and air pressure and things like that in my phone.  My wife always forgets to tell me she needs gas or whatever and I can check very easy as well as checking tire pressure.  The RAM has none of that for the 12".

I hd too many issues with my RAM the main one was AC performance was as bad as it gets for a modern vehicle.  Id suggest going 2020 GM they now have the Adaptive cruise and the interior may not be as nice but it works.  I haven't had an issue one with my Silverado.
