Damn Rocks | Cracked Windshield

Recommended Posts

I was driving down the interstate this morning and heard a rock hit the windshield.  This rock must have hit just right.  It went from about 3 inches to over 6 in a matter of hours.  I checked a quote from safelite and the estimate was about 400 dollars for a new replacement.  I have not measured the crack yet, but I am damn sure it is over 6 inches.  Anyone replaced a windshield on a 2019 Silverado Trail Boss LT?

I have been trying to replace on my custom trailboss.  Safelite has brought the wrong glass twice.  Waiting to get factory glass from Chevy now.  On the image below you see the angled cutout, older trucks it is rounded here and that is the glass they brought.

I hate cracked windshields. I actually had the worse luck a couple of months ago. My windshield cracked on my sedan about two months ago so I got it reapried. A month into it, an even bigger rock hit my windshield and the shatter was the largest I've ever seen, I got it repaired again and this time my dealership gave me a loaner car. Well low and behold, two days into the loaner car, a rock hit that windshield too. Fortunately for me, my insurance covers all cracked windshields so I only had to pay the deductible for each one. But talk about bad luck lol.

Getting my new glass tomorrow morning.  I was not even close to tailgating.  Maybe 5 seconds back and a GMT900 with aggressive tires chucked a rock that hit right in the passenger view.  They tried to fix, but the injection left the chip proud of the surface.  Factory glass replacement by a local company.

Hey can you share the part details?  I have a family member that works in glass business and he is trying to price out.  How much did yours ending up costing for glass and install?

Is the correct one rounded or angled?  Mind sharing a picture?   Thanks

The correct one is angled, sorry I didn't take a picture and my parking is 10 minutes from my desk.  It should look just like sjordan's picture above.  In my request I made sure that I had the new body style selected on Safelite's site, my VIN defaulted to the LD style.  I also wrote in the notes that it is a new style.

The technician was very appreciative that I added I was new body in the notes.
