Ordering A Truck........After Strike.

Is anyone going to order a truck from GM after the strike is resolved? Not everyone wins when a new contract is ratified. Some workers will be happy while others won't.  What do you think the quality of the vehicles will be when manufacturing resumes? If I'm willing to buy a new vehicle, I sure hope everyone one on the assembly line returns to work happy with what the UAW and GM agrees to.

These are unskilled workers making a damn good wage. They are lucky and they know it. They are not going to do shitty work.

For the most part. From what I've read and don't agree with is GM keeping workers on "temporary" status for years and years to prevent giving them benefits and a higher wage. Other than that though, yeah I agree with you.

That is the unintended consequences of gov't mandated worker benefits, e.g min wage, maternity leave etc.   The state and local gov't do that all the time, hire temps.  I know someone who been working for the post office as a temp for years.  .

It will be fine. Think about where you work - does everyone always give 100% , absolutely not. And it wouldn’t be just GM, all automakers have shitty workers that are unhappy. If they screw up, they get fired.

while generally I agree with this, unions are a bit of a different breed. No ill will intended towards any union members here, but I doubt they would disagree that there isn't some group think and strategy. That's their best assets, planning and strategy.

I do highly doubt there would be any safety concerns or sabotage, but I wouldn't be shocked to see a little less effort on the job either.

have worked in a union

been in management on the other side working with steel workers

have had to train and be trained for potential strike that didn't happen at the last minute.

What are you ordering? It could be built in Mexico

Ryan B.

I have a 2020 LTZ on order. It’s been accepted in the GM system, but no target production week yet. ?

Which ones are being built in Mexico? Probably the first time ever said lol, but hopefully my truck will be assembled in Mexico soon. ?

IMHO, I believe that nothing is going to change as far as quality, who ever remains will be doing the same exact work they’ve been doing. I don’t think anyone will be sniffing the truck for urine smell from disgruntled employees [emoji848]. There’s already so much negativity towards the American Automobile Manufactures and don’t believe they want to jeopardize it any further.
