Trail Boss Custom upgrding to the all LED headlights

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

had some free time today so I installed the foglights and headlights. tomorrow I will try to finish it up. I need to clean up the wiring and put the rest of the body back together. I did not upgrade the grill yet so I'll need to figure out how to make the "custom" grill work temporarily. If I had more time I would have made a tutorial video because the only thing I could find on YouTube was how to remove the grill and another video of truck with no headlight but it did help. I only broke about three plastic clips lol

As some of you know we make adapter harness to upgrade head lights and tail lights, 60 days ago we got a new 2019 Trail Boss Custom in RED i liked the look a lot, but the headlight are real old looking, so we had to do some thing about it, last week we did, we replaced the the head lights with new GM LED that come in higher trim models, and they make this truck complete, nice color light output, and it fills the road with light, some things to know GM said you have to pull the bumper off to do the install that is not what we did to remove the headlight and install the new ones, we reused the stock Grill with 2 mods to make it fit, we are working to make i filler for the  2 as i call them Vees  >Chevrolet< to go on the lights.

More info soon on the Parts, what do you all think, and by the way we add lights that come on at night that show off the Chevrolet in the grill.

I have a 2020 Custom TB and am doing a headlamp conversion as well. I've received my harness from Gen5DIY and should receive HC headlamps, TB grille before end of Dec. I was in communication with Gen5DIY for over a month or so and they answered all of my questions helping me to find what will work for me. Will be adding pictures soon and let you all know how that process goes and any feedback I may have.

Nice truck FlatBlack! Did you end up mounting the resisters on the metal frame? Instructions from Gen5DIY states it’ll help with keeping temps down. My Grill should arrive by tomorrow and I’ve also got the illuminating bow which also uses the female to male plug n for the headlamp wonder if that will cause any issues. I will be starting the front end conversion this Saturday if the final piece arrived tomorrow.

You will love these headlights.!! The resistors are mounted on the metal brace next to the headlight.  If you look you can barely see them when you look under the hood. The wire isn't super long for them so that was about the only place to put em.

My gm fog light kit plugs in just like the bowtie so you shouldn't have a problem. It plugs in between the passenger light and the harness.

Thanks! Spent a few hours and was only able to get the grille and passenger headlight out. So far no broken parts lol.

Saw a couple videos on the web regarding headlight removal and your guys post were all extremely helpful. I didn't have to remove the panel filler on the sides of the front bumper since I was able to reach one of the headlight bolts using a ratcheting wrench. Next to the inner part of the headlights are gaskets that are secured to the front frame with Christmas tree rivets which need to be removed otherwise sliding out the light would be difficult. Will try and upload pictures of gasket. Ran out of time so it's back in the garage waiting for tomorrow morning when I can hopefully complete the front conversion.
