2019 Silverado1500 6 speed transmission problems

Recommended Posts

Over 40 mph on light acceleration I get a shutter up to around 60 mph. I'm starting to think it might be the engine deactivating cylinders and its having trouble making power to move the big truck.  Driving in manual or trailer mode it will not do this, I don't think the engine can deactivate cylinders.

I haven't had a problem with gear hunting but it has bounced off the rev limiter a few times under full throttle.  I'm at 5k miles.

Purchased a 2020 Chevy custom trail boss in March, v6 4.3 with 6 speed transmission. Everything great truck ran and shifted great. Exactly at 5100 miles started shifting funny. Same problems everyone else has been having. Thing constantly shudders doesn’t know what gear it wants to be in. Even on highway on cruise on straight away thing shifts every 3 to 4 seconds in last 2 gears, up down up down up down. First Chevy truck I’ve ever bought. Was ford guy. Starting to be second guessing my decision.  Has anyone got anywhere with the issues they were having? Truck goes to dealer in 3 days. Thanks

I have a 2018 4.3..6 speed. Been seeing that the truck didnt want to know where it wanted to be with gear, also noticed a slight slip between 1-2. Didnt pay much attention. Took a trip to Georgia from south fla, it did fine on the way up but when I got there from 1/2 fine, then jumped from what felt to 3rd then back to 3rd. Felt the truck was super heavy and dragging, saw temps up to 230-260. Came back home , drove. Was super bad. Gears will not fall into place from 2-3-4. Revs supper high about 3-4.5 rpm but will never hit 4th. Only drove about 10/13 minutes, trans fluid smelled burnt, I think the gears and clutch plates are going only 65k miles. Wtf. Taking it in to see what’s the deal.

I have a 2020 chevy custom 6 speed transmission. Its in the shop now for the same problems you all have described. They are replacing the torque converter. Been there 7 days. Lemon law says once its been in the shop over 30  consecutive or non consecutive days in the first 24 months i can claim its a lemon. Im counting the days and will be adding them together everytime i have to take it in.  Only had it 7 months so far.  Bought brand new.

Had the same issue. '19 TB. 6 speed. 2 different dealerships could not find anything wrong with it. No one would ackowldge the obvious clank, evven when I drove with them. Also after 25000miles, the fron t diff began grinding, and often would seem like 4x4 was engaged. same dealerships " can't find anything wrong", despite the obvious noises. Specifically paid for a front end inspection from a 3rd dealership who said the exact same thing.(By this time there was 55000 miles on it) Contacted GM head QC who told me to get an updated diagnostic at a gm authorized dealer, 2 miles after i left freom picking it up at the dealer who told me nothing was wrong. No arguing with a brick wall that i had just got it done and they wanted another. So I gave up and traded it in for a Tundra at a loss. (Hate the tundra BTW)

I have a 2019 GMc Sierra Limited SLE , 5.3 ltr, 6 speed. Around mid 30k started having shudder, hard shifting, whining noise. Long story short, torque converter failure, replaced TC with a refurbished one, tranny rebuild. Dealership was decent during the process.
7 months later , same symptoms, back in the dealership. I was hoping the 6 speed would have been better than the 8 speed but no such luck. Still waiting for a callback on the diagnosis.
