Sound Settings

Recommended Posts

I saw in one of the other threads about adjusting the fader to improve sound from the Bose radio...  well, I tried it today and it does help significantly...  Anyone with the Bose setup should give this a shot...

Basically shift the fader back like 1/2 to 2/3rds.    expands the sound stage and gives it a much fuller complete sound....

I did that as well, and also turned the treble way down.

I have the non-bose.  The speakers will not be long for this world though, any listening volume that is higher than a light conversation results in serious distortion.  I don't plan on doing a full system, but do plan on replacing the stock speakers that GM put in, and doing some sound treatments.  I don't want it loud, just relatively clear.

just on bose? how about the crap stock system?

I did the same thing on the stock system.  Made it tolerable.  I'll check my exact settings when I get in the truck after work.  But like I said the speakers are already distorting at low volumes, can't handle any sort of dynamics.

this is the worst silveardo sound system i've ever had. I was pretty impressed with my stock 16, but this is just not acceptable. And for reference i have a car with amp powered polks at all doors and 2 10" subs. so i'm picky.

Agreed. The non-Bose is unbearable in these trucks. For the longest time, GM had some really great entry level/ base model stereos. All of our GM cars throughout the 90s and 00s, and even my 2016 were great for being non-Bose, and in some cases sounded better to me than the Bose option.

Not anymore though. All of their vehicles are like this now. Not just the Silverado.
