2.7 turbo harness issues

Recommended Posts

I’ve seen there are no shortage of people whose 19 silverados have had the famous service esc, parking break, transmission, and brake lights come one and the whole truck goes haywire. Has anyone had a successful repair yet. My truck has 199 miles on it and is at the dealership for a second time already almost lost all brake and it did roll through an intersection while trying to stop pedal went weak and took forever to stop. I’ve called gm and made my complaint and they are saying no known tsb or recall or known knowledge of this being a problem witch is incorrect what do I do now?

Explain to them that you just informed them so it is know a known issue. Please fix this before someone gets killed.

They wont care because they will just write a check to the people hurt by the issue and still make a large amount on money.

It’s currently in the shop now and they have begun the diagnostics on it. Even though we already know what’s wrong they are going to get the engineers at Chevrolet involved again

Good call on getting it in the shop. Sucks you have a new truck you cannot drive. Had that happen once. Sold it off to someone else.

There is someone here, can't remember his username, but he went through this and knows all about it. Do some digging you'll find his posts about it. Hit him up.

That's me.

Take a look back through my posts. I ended up suing GM over their unwillingness to fix the damn thing right by replacing their failed harness.

A lawsuit sounds like an added expense to a truck that already doesn’t work at 199 miles. And what did they finally do to fix the vehicle properly. And what was the unacceptable fix I just want to be sure I am armed with all the right information when I go to my dealer today. Also isn’t there a tsb on the transmission shutter

Welcome to the GM jerk around. Get your lawyer ready.

My LT turbo was built 11/18 so I figure it's an early build and bought in April 19, turned 3.5k miles recently and still haven't had this happen.

I wonder if I'm the outlier or the folks having issues are.

Or maybe it's a duty cycle thing...

Not really sure the Chevy engineer looked at it today and says the “tsm” is faulty whatever that means and that they are going to order and try and have gm push a new one their way but warned me in advance they are a hot item right now with all these issues and are currently on backorder and could take a while to get their hands on but that’s the next step so sounds like I’ll be without my truck for a while nothing like making payments on a brand new truck and paying insurance on something I can’t drive

Mine was built in March of 2019, delivered April 20, 2019 and had the first blowup on May 21, 2019 at 3066 miles.

Do you think they said TCM by any chance? Transmission Control Module.

Mine was blown up in the first go-round with this harness garbage. That afternoon when I tried to start it at work, it blew the 400A main fuse for the truck. After it blew a couple more of those for the dealer, it also took out my ECM, BCM, some sort of starter controller, and the starter. It's sending enough amperage backfeeding through the harness to fry things.

Make them put you in something comparable to your truck in the meantime. If they start jerking you around, get the GM customer assistance center involved. They are completely useless but are a necessary step if you end up having to do something legal about it.

I believe it was the tcm I have already contacted the gm customer care and had the issue escalated I am supposed to be getting a call back I guess we will see if that actually happens it did also blow the 400a main as well I have also made complaints with gm and the bbb as well as the national highway safety

They are also saying that the harness isn’t the culprit this time.do you recall what the tsb number is for the harness

Yup... It's attached for you here.

You're getting the same runaround that I am. Next up they will tell you that they don't have that harness in stock because a warehouse moved and they lost track of their parts. They won't pull one from the line to fix it right (even though it is a revised part with a revised part number).

www.lemonlaw.com. Not a litigious person at all here - but this was the only option I had and they went after GM with it.

Come to think of it, I am going to report this to NHTSA this weekend. Given how mine lost all power in the middle of 8 lanes of highway with my boat behind it is a major safety issue.
