New wheel size ? 20x9 or 20x10?

Recommended Posts

I have a 19 RST non-Z71 4x4 with the factory 18" wheels. I want to go up to a 20" wheel but I am not sure which is the better option on these trucks? Do I look at the 20 x 9s or the 20 x 10s? Also I really do not want to run a wheel spacer. I have never been a fan of them. So what are my options?

I’m not sure 20x10 is a factory option. You may have seen them at a dealer on a truck but doesn’t mean they are GM  wheels.

I put the 20” gray RST wheels on my LT and love the look of them. They also make the same wheel in all silver finish too. You can also look at the 20” options from the LTZ or High Country. On the GMC side you have some good 20” options as well and can switch the GMC center caps for Chevy ones.

Just run a factory tire size with the 20x9 and you’ll have no problems.

It does not have to be a factory wheel. I am just trying to see what works and looks the best with these trucks. I will more than likely be purchasing after market wheels, unless I could find a good deal here on a set of black factory 20 take offs.

Get a different wheel with offset options just make sure it’ll fit

That is the reason I made this thread. I am trying to figure out what aftermarket wheels fit my truck? I wanted to see what was better. The 20 x 9 or the 20 x 10? I also want to run a wheel and tire setup that does NOT require wheel spacers.

Don’t do what many of us have done, buying wheels and later lifting or leveling cause then you’ll end up buying a whole new wheel and tire setup. Figure out if you’re going to leave Stock, Level or Lift. From there, find the wheel you like by searching online, then contact the actual wheel manufacturer and let them know what you’re trying to get.

The offset has changed for 2019 because of the larger calipers but, it's really not just the offset but the angle of the spokes.  Some older wheels will work and some will require spacers.  Some will require a 3mm spacer which is the largest you can run with the wheel still being hub centric. Some people have to run 1/2" spacers which I wouldn't recommend because the wheel is now lug centric and not hub centric anymore. One company I know of makes 3mm aluminum spacers.  There are already several threads here on 2019 wheels, fitment and known to fit. It's easier if you say what style wheel you're looking for.  OEM look? Gloss black? Matte black? Chrome? Machined? Two tone?  Off road Fuel style?

I want to get either the factory 2" lift or a front level kit on my truck.

Again I am aware that the brakes are larger on our trucks over previous years. I created this thread to find out what works best, a 20 X 9 or a 20 X 10? Also what offset or any other info needed to avoid wheel spacers. I do not want spacers. I am not interested in getting them to make a wheel fit that was not meant for this model year.

I am looking at black wheels with a offroad appearance. I would like to go to a 31" or 33" tire.

The wheels are difficult to know what will fit.  Best bet is to find a wheel you like and call the manufacturer and ask them if they will fit on the 2019 Silverado. I can tell you that most Fuel wheel will fit but you will need to make sure you get an updated fuel wheel as they had to make changes to the wheels to fit over the calipers.  XD has about 15 or so wheels that will fit.  If you go to the manufacturer site and search for 2019 silverado, it will show you what will fit.

I am sure most manufacturers will tell you to stick with the 20x9 wheels, but 20x10's will fit, jsut depends on how big a tire you want and how much you want them to stick out.  I wanted to put 20x10 -18, but they wouldnt fit with my 305/55R20 tires, but I do believe they will fit if you went with a 33x12.50 tire.  So I have a 20x9 +1 wheel as I had already bought the tires and it was too late to exchange them.  Also depends on how much trimming you are willing to do to the truck to get the tires you want to fit.
