colored spray-in bed liners?

I have been looking at getting a spray-in bedliner put in and was lookign to NOT get it in the black. A couple dealers have warned me that there is considerable fading for the colored bedliners.

Does anyone have one that they've had for any length of time? In particular I was looking for a red one...I don't want to end up with a pink one.

well, i currently live in pittsburgh, so there is not much chance of it seeing any sunlight.

so, when you say a good UV protectant, you think i'll have to treat the bed regularly with something? I'd be willign to do this if it kept it looking good.

I had a black spray in my last truck and it didn't fade at all for the 4 years i had it.

My Rhino Liner is light gray in color, and it hasn't changed color at all, but it gets a faded, washed out look to over time. It's almost like soap-scum you'd find in the shower, you can scrub it off with Simple Green and water, and it looks like new again, but I usually don't bother. Maybe it's from acid rain or something.

@Willys- is it turnign pink or anything? or is it just a poor color match? my truck is actually white and I am just looking to do soemthing a little different, so a perfect color match isn't an issue...it turnign pink definitely is.

The bed has pretty much always had a cover on it so I don't think fading is the issue with mine. Even in the upper corners it appears that the color is not a good match. It may just be an issue with Speedliner, though. Also, the finish is sorta rough and hard to clean. It's not as smooth as a Line-x or Rhino. It was in the truck when I got it so I guess I'll live with it.

Well, Tex, I've got a red spray-in to match my Fire Red Sierra and it's keeping it's color very well. The only thing is: the guy I bought it from had the liner sprayed in someplace in Omaha and I don't know what brand it is. The texture reminds me of the permatech I have in my ZR2 but the installer didn't put on any badge or emblem to identify the product name.

Anyway, I think if you go with the Permatech red, you'll be pleased with the results. Whatever you choose, be sure to emphasize to the installer that you want the bed prepped thoroughly 'cause that's what determines long-term satisfaction. Permatech (and others) have a lifetime warranty and should last a lifetime if the prep work is done correctly.

Good luck!

well, me and my truck ran into a bit of trouble with Johnny Law recently. sothe money that was going to go towards the bed liner and a wester's is now going to a lawyer and court fees and fines.

so, by the time i can afford the bedliner again, i'm sure there will be more advancements. thanks everyone!

i was watching one of the truck shows the other week...and for rhino liner they have a new product that if you are experiencing fading or a washed out look...it will "refurbish" the finish...i think they have an article in a magazine as well...looks that it worked well haven't need to try it...my liner is only a few months old..

I got line-x sprayed in my bed of my truck. They warrned me about fading but said if it did that I could go back to them for 60$ and they would add some kind of color refresher to the coating to bring it back to black. But they also said that my lined bed has a 2 year limited warrenty and they would repair it.

But if I was going to get a Tonno cover which I did then I wouldnt have to worry about it.
