Trailer Brake Controller

Recommended Posts

What is the easiest way to pop the blank cover off? I’m adding some led lights on my wife 2020 Silverado Texas Editiin. She got paranoid when I pulled out my trim removal tool. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You have to take the radio bezel off then the whole center out. Depending on if you have the center console or not, I have the bench seat, so there’s two bolts on the bottom that I had to remove. The blank has to be pushed in and the only way to get it out is from behind

This is not turn for pull out the oem cover plate.  You do push it in to get it lose,  but you do not have to take off any part of the dash to get it out.  You can turn the black cover sideways and it will come out. But putting it back in is a total different story.  You will have to put it in from the back, so you will need to take the bottom of the dash off to do this.

Something I can not rap my head around is why would to make a vehicle that has that plug and is wired for trailer brakes and have a trailer package on the vehicle but in turn do not equip the vehicle with trailer brakes?? That is the dumbest ****** any engineer or tech has ever thought of!! My father in law just got this vehicle and he told the dealer that he needed the towing package with trailer brakes and this is what they did to him.  No trailer brake controller!! I drive a Ford 2017 and every Ford I’ve ever owned you can change and put any oem system on the vehicle without any issue.  Maybe a quick flash at the dealer is all I’ve ever had to do.  But like most of you oem looks better than any of that aftermarket crap. And if an aftermarket will work on the vehicle with plug and play why can’t an oem work plug and play?? That not being able to program your module makes absolutely no damn since!?
