Tonneau cover for CarbonPro??

Recommended Posts

Trying to hold out for the new year as I have a feeling something new may be coming, but been tempted on getting the GM hard cover with these discounts they are offering! Anyone know of a good toolbox option for the carbonpro bed? Looking to get some storage options! Only thing I’ve seen tht may work is the under tonneau tool box on the gm site, an not even sure that will work!

I’m in the process of trying to decide between the Carbon Pro vs just getting the AT4 with the spray in liner. Reading all these posts has me concerned about the Carbon Pro. I know many of you have done modifications to get these covers to fit, but what about other accessories for the bed? Are you happy with the Carbon Pro bed or wish you would have just stuck with the traditional spray in bed liner that comes on the AT4? Also, I’m in Arizona so I’ve wondered about how the Carbon Fiber will hold up to the direct sun and heat all day long every day as this truck will not be garaged since I don’t have a big enough garage to fit it!

I’m a new member here so if there’s a better thread to post such a question please let me know as I’m not trying to hijack this thread, but just know a lot of you have now dealt with the Carbon Pro bed and the potential accessories, or lack there of.

I knew nothing about the carbonpro when I bought the truck, it had al the features I wanted! But if I would have known I can’t run any tonneau or get swingcases in the bed, I would have passed on it.

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra AT4 w/ CarbonPro. First truck, first time installing a Tonneau Cover. I purchased this WeatherTech one and it is excellent.  https://www.weathertech.com/gmc/2020/sierra-1500/roll-up-truck-bed-cover/sierra-box-size-4th/short-box-69/bedside-storage-box-4/no/gm-carbonpro-bed/yes/

Install was easy (had to watch their video a couple times) and you only drill into some crappy plastic cover, not the actual beautiful carbon fiber.

Was skeptical about watertightness but it has survived 3 months of Florida downpours without a darn drop inside!!

Thanks WACKEM_G and JonathanGMC for the insight. I guess I just wonder what main advantage the Carbon Pro has over a spray in bedliner? I mean those bedliners seem pretty tough and rugged, and it seems like they have more grip to them as well so things wouldn't slide around as much in the bed as with the more slick Carbon Pro bed. Seems like there's more upside to the spray in liner to me when I read all the concerns about accessories and mounting. I'm sure as more trucks are out there with the Carbon Pro more companies will start to manufacture ways to put their products on these trucks, but for now it seems pretty limited. Or maybe I'm just being overly worried about it?

Anyone actually pull the trigger on this yet? Been looking at it (in addition to a couple other options) but as this is new I haven't found any feedback on it as of yet...

There are 2 BAK options for the Carbon bed now. The Revolver X4 and the BakFlip MX4

There is a pretty popular youtube video of someone who have shown some quality control issues of the Revolver x4 (the cloth on the bottom of the rollers separating from the metal). Has anyone seen these issues?

Does anyone have any feedback on the quality of the BAKFlip MX4?

Regards

Russell

I placed a Retrax pro off of my 2019 Silverado onto my new 2021 Carbon Pro Denali 1500 Duramax.  It took a little time to come up with a way to secure it, but for about $25 and time it looks like it did on my traditional bed.  I would insert pictures, but have no idea how.

WeatherTech released their own hard cover tonneau for the carbon pro, it looks very similar to the Lomax posted above.  Mine just came today and I'm super happy with it, definitely nicer in my opinion when compared to the OEM soft cover.

How did you install the side rails on the Carbon Pro bed?  if you had to drill holes to mount the rails to the bed, was there a jig included for properly locating the holes?

I asked Bakflip what modifications they made to make it work with the carbon bed. They sent me the install sheets. I would have bought one by now but I can’t actually find one here in Canada. Some sites say they have them in stock, but they don’t,  I’ve spoken with a bunch of retailers and they have no idea when it will actually be available here.
