Beware installing a lift or bigger tires on your T1 !

Recommended Posts

I believe the largest factory tires are 33’s mine came with 275x60x20’s they are a shade over 33. Eventually someone will crack the code, used to Lyndon Wester could crack the codes pretty quickly, he was the first to tune an OBDII Vette. He works with HP Tuners. So I will wait, I prefer wider to taller myself.

People on here are scary cats. I see them lifted and tuned all the time here in Texas. The dealers do it, there’re all over. Of course bigger wheels and tires may cause things to wear out early, so what. The old saying, pay to play.

Each dealer is going to be different, if they don't want to do it they may say GM won't allow them.  Some are just protecting themselves from liability issues. Other will do anything for a $.   A close friend is SM and I asked him about it, he says "buy GM accessory wheels and calibration comes with it". Otherwise, they won't give him anything the code that comes with the wheel package.  He pointed to a new GMC on the lot with the factory lift.  His shop in one of 9 (corp. owned) dealerships and he has to follow their rules. They drink the GM kool-aide.

There’s a company called Tuscany that does lifts for Chevy and Ford. They have warranty’s and are sold through approved dealers. In reality you could probably find a local company that does it cheaper. Probably enough to cover any warranty problems.

I’m not scared, here is mine as it currently sits on the dealer lift getting a lift installed by them!

Did you swap your tires for something bigger than factory? is that why you needed to lift it?

I did swap my OEM tires for bigger but I've been driving on them for 9,000 miles. I didn't "Need" to lift if, I "want" to lift it..

Nice i was just wondering. Those look like terra grapplers... 305s maybe . Looks nice on the high country wheels

Yes, they are 305’s. Thanks for the compliment. They sent me a picture today, picking it up tomorrow evening.

Those tires dont actually look bad even when its lifted. You could probably fit a bigger tire though now if you wanted too

Thanks' I agree, I think I can get a bigger tire but finding a tire that’s not a load range E has proven very difficult.

I don't lift my truck or care about the lift lifestyle but I have several local dealers shoveling new ones out door with 35's and 6" to 9" lifts. They must be doing something to satisfy the speedo.
