Anyone have a Silverado Custom?

Recommended Posts

Hi-I am in Saratoga County just north of Albany.  I agree on the RST, but I just love the front end and 20" rims on the Custom.  I could try to have 20" rims put on an RST I guess though.  Totally agree that the feature set blows the Custom away.

Ah okay, well hello upstate friend. Yeah, you can get 20” wheels on the RST they’re beautiful. My brother actually had those picked out on his first truck before they dealer traded it [emoji23][emoji23]. It’s just something to think about because I was blown away by the features, and it may be something you wish you had in 6 months, 6 years etc or it may be something you care less about. Either way though that’s something only you can decide. Good luck with it though!!

I agree...I had an Equinox LT and wished I sprung for the premium stereo.  The LT had a sub but only used it for the active noise cancellation.  It killed me not to have that extra bass (I am a bass player).  I was able to buy and install the premium amp and then make use of the sub.  I do like the extra features of the RST, but if I can upgrade the stereo a bit (with the add-on sub), I can survive just fine with my planned upgrades (I think).  I wish they put the custom front grill on the RST (just my personal preference but I love the embossed CHEVROLET).

Yes....we are upstate NY.  Beautiful summers.

I gather they are killing off the V6 for 2020 and replace with a turbo 4 for the Customs.  I wonder what will happen to towing and will the MPG increase?

4.3 is still the base engine, and the 2.7 is actually the top tier option for the Custom. It costs more and comes with the 8 speed, so it should get better economy. Early reports show the 2.7 really excels in the city vs the 5.3.

I have to laugh at the computer generated/ altered images GM gives the dealers like the one above. The trucks all seem to be lifted and on bigger tires vs reality. Looks good though.

Ditto. I liked the looks of the all-black Custom so much that I'm buying one. I think it's probably the best looking trim level, just wish they wouldn't have skimped so much on the interior.

I can’t believe the center console doesn’t open. That’s ridiculous. Every at from what the 50s-60s has has Center console storage? Who at GM thought this was a good idea?

If I can get the radio controls and center storage, I’ll I’m.

I’m trying to get pricing for buying out my current truck. Seems like that’s the best deal I’m going to get on a newish truck. I just wish I could see 0% for the interest rate. Everyone has to make money I guess.

I'm looking to buy a "basic" Custom.  V6 with custom convenience package (remote start and a few other goodies/necessities).  I love the RST features, but the look of the Custom (I am going 20" all terrain wheels which is a $200 option) just does it for me.

I am going to:

1.  replace the center arm rest with the top that has storage

2.  add either the sub or now Chevy has a kit with the sub and DSP module for the stereo.

3.  Change to either LED or "Silverstar or equiv" headlights.  I live in upstate NY and LED's don't melt the snow off of the headlights.

4.  Add a bedliner and then a decent tonneau cover (hard-style that lifts with pneumatic hinges).

5.  Run a usb spitting cable from the cig lighter outlet to the back seat for passenger phones.

I am hoping the V6 is adequate (I am a sports Dad so I am only need to tow a landscape trailer) and gets decent MPG compared to the v8.  I may just also spring for the v8 custom since the extra power and rear exhaust would be really nice to have, but then I am getting close to a discounted RST and more money than I want to spend.

So that's my story...getting prices from local dealers now.  If I go v6 I plan to spend about 34K before tax.

how do you replace the center arm rest? where are you buying this part from?

I can find the link I sent my father in law for his truck that I found. I’ll grab it in the morning!
