OEM TriMode Running Boards

I see people removing their TriMode steps, are there problems with those steps? Do they cause clearance issues with oversized tires? Has anyone had a negative experience with them? I’m going to replace my factory fixed running boards on my 2015 Silverado. I want to use the TriMode steps. They look like they will suit me perfectly. I spoke with Phil about upgrading to his harness and replacing the factory box with the later model part to ease the electrical install. I just want to make certain that there aren’t any hidden issues, that I discover the hard way (like usual). Thanks for your input. Dark

Not a problem with mine in 2 yrs (2017 Sierra Denali standard), even in winter with ice and snow, they still function perfectly.  Matter of fact I like them so much it would be hard for me to buy a new truck that did not have these on it.

I've got them and they have functioned flawlessly. I have 33" tires and a small lift (2.5" front, 1"rear). I can't tell you how many times I've hit the button on the back to have them extend all the way to the bed so I can reach items close to the cab, they're awesome. I've also ran the truck through bumpy two track roads and mud/water, no clearance issues. Only *small* gripe would be that you can find other powered steps that extend downward that are better for shorter people. The OEM trifold only moves laterally. While it's still shorter to step on that vs straight into the cab, if you have a good size lift it only helps the short people a little. From our other exchange on the traction bar thread, I believe you have a 6" lift. Up to you how far down you want the steps to reach.
