MultiPro Power Steps not retracting

Recommended Posts

I bought a 2019 Sierra Denali with the GMC MultiPro Power Steps (retractable running boards) in June. Twice in the last month, the passenger side step has stayed in the extended position after the door was closed, and won’t retract. The first time, it retracted when I shifted into drive and started moving forward. This time, that’s not working.

Anyone having similar issues or a fix?

There used to be a relearn procedure on older power assist steps. If not too inconvenient, I’d call or stop by a GM dealer and see if they could give you the steps to use (if that method is still used). Could also be a faulty sensor of some sort.

I had the same issue with only the passenger side as I rarely have passengers, if I helped it the step would come in and out but it needed help, I lubed up all of the pivoting points and worked it back and fourth and now it works fine but I open and close the passenger door once in awhile to keep it moving,.
