Dash cam

Recommended Posts

All right guys, show me them dash cams!  In the market for one, not looking to spend a fortune, but would like to have motion detection.  If someone walked around my truck trying to get in,I want to know.  Obviously the common features as well, but most have everything I am looking for, but can’t really find the motion detection or possibly in cab camera as well.  Any suggestions, what are you Guys using, how did you connect it and pictures please! :)

Motion detection would be very hard especially at nights. All use small sensors and it comes out too grainy at nights. Also, I don't think any would get the sides, just the front and the back. I looked into that a while back.

Here’s the one I got off Amazon. I did get a hard wire kit to tie into the fuse panel on the driver side dash. For the price it has pretty good video quality. I have mine set to 720p to record more than 3 hours with 1080p. It has all the features you’re looking for and there is a sensitivity setting for the shock sensor.

Dual Dash Cam Front and Rear,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KB7B82G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I've been happy with this one from Amazon: Rexing V1 3rd Generation 4K UHD WiFi Car Dash Cam 2.4" LCD 170° Wide Angle Dashboard Camera Recorder with WiFi, 16GB Card, G-Sensor, WDR, Loop Recording

Tapped into the driver's door fuse panel so it powers on with the key turned to accessories/on. It mounts behind the rear view mirror and is basically out of sight and out of mind. The video is pretty impressive. Haven't checked out too much night time video yet though. We got a dual, front/rear, version for the wife's Jeep which is awesome with the hatchback window.

Here's a good break down on dash cams from Vortex Radar. Vortex Radar runs a popular youtube channel that focuses on radar detectors and laser shifters/jammers.

I personally run the Escort M1 Dashcam (https://www.escortradar.com/products/m1) in front as it plugs directly into my Escort Max 360c radar detector and I recently had a blackvue ( https://www.blackvue.com) installed facing the rear (after I got rear ended and the girl tried to run).

My wife got me a dash cam from sams for under 200$. It has a front and back camera. I use it in our trip car and point the back camera towards the drivers seat. I let the valet know it’s there when I have to use them. It a piece of mind thing. If you ever have a problem it would be nice to point to and say, any questions?
