I have a 2019 Silverado 1500 Legacy, my dip stick is on the driver side, but is it me or is the dil stick really in there? I can reach it when I pop the hood I need a step to get the thing.

Is there any dio stick replacements that can make it longer cause hell I think I got short arms or that thing is really in there almost behind the rear header.

I have the same trouble with my '15 Sierra.  Fortunately I don't need to check very often.  I've never needed to top off between oil changes.

Since the early 2000s when I read in my owners manual they had low oil sensors and I started using the dealership for service. I got out of the habit. Except on my old stuff. I hardly open the hood on the newer stuff.

I lowered my truck a few inches and reach it fine now. :D

I chuckled at first read but then got to thinking that a lowered truck could have other advantages.  Access to the box and cab would be less of a challenge for those of us who find such activities more challenging than the earlier versions of themselves. .  (I keep a step stool on board for climbing into the back or for assisting my less able friends into the cab)  Lowering a truck can enhance looks and practicality!

NEVER use the low oil indicator to go off of when to add oil.  That is playing with fire.  Think of it like the oil idiot lights in prior years.  By the time the light came on, chances are damage to the engine was already done.

I never had it come on. I only had 3 vehicles in 43 years use oil. Even those would be less the 2 quarts by the oil change. So no worries.

Maybe GM should stop putting an oil dip stick on their vehicles.

I"m glad I'm not vertically challenged so checking my oil is a PITA.

Whats next fellas, no gas gauge. Just a low fuel light.

With all the electronics theses days that would be easy. A sensor for one qt low easy. You have one on washer fluid.
