I just bought a 2019 new body style Silverado lt 5.3. Im clueless when it comes to aftermarket parts and was wanting to get an air intake for it. Will it hurt the truck, what all should I get and does it really work

It makes a different sound.

It's not going to add an real horsepower, there is no black magic with air intakes.

You can buy the GM parts intake directly from the dealer. Otherwise I am not sure what else is on the market as I haven't looked.

Not worth it for either, you may gain a HP or 2 but you’ll never notice it, MPG usually ends up worse because you’ll think you’ve got more HP and you’ll want to hear the sound so you’ll be on the throttle more.

I heard it helped gas & hp a little but I’m just curious to see if it’s even worth it

Even if it saved you on mpg which it wont it would take you many many years to get your money back on fuel savings on the money you put out to buy it. You already have a CAI from the factory on your truck all the after market does is give you more noise. Save your money for something else.
