Help deciding what stage cam I should buy

Recommended Posts

I’m going to purchase an aftermarket cam from Texas speed to go with my afm delete kit. The only problem is idk if I want to get a stage one or stage two. My truck is my daily driver. I’ve read that if I get the stage 2 cam I have to run a upgraded torque converter but it would kill my gas mileage. Has anyone ran a stage 2 cam without a torque converter? And has anyone had any experience running a stage 1 cam? Any info helps thanks

What are your plans with the truck ? Texas speed is great my old 5th gen camaro ss has the stage 4 cam dod vvt delete . A tq converter won’t make your gas mileage too shit. My old camaro with a 4000 circle d stall drove like a stock car till I got on it that it go nuts .it just depends on how you drive and what’s your goal is . My opinion is do it once not have to go back and do it it again I’d get a stage 2 cam kit if it was me. Cut once not twice .

What model year truck do you currently own? If your truck is the old body style, you're in the wrong area of the forum. You want to be in the K2xx 2014-18 section. If you own a new body style 2019 Silverado and you think you're going to do a cam swap, you're going to have a bad time, because the 2019's have a different ECU and can't be tuned. Cam swaps is going to be years away from being doable, if at all.

How are you going to tune it? I can’t seem to find info on the ability to tune the new ECU yet.

Figured I send my ecu over to Texas speeds guy that does all their tuning
