Not even close. 2500HD is way better . He would like the backup camera though

I thought it would had been pretty close compared to his 2500HD is a 1999 with 6.0 gas engine.  Guess I was thinking a new 1500 truck would be close to a old 2500HD non diesel.

A 1999 2500 with a 6.0 would not be a 2500HD. The HD for that body style came out in 2001. Heavy duty trucks from 1999-2000 were on the old GMT-400 platform with either the 5.7, 7.4 or 6.5, and they sold the light duty 2500 on the “new” body style in the meantime. At some point that light duty 2500 was renamed 1500HD, but I’m getting off topic.

The GVWR of the light duty 2500s like his was 7200. For perspective the T1 half tons are right in that range. My max tow package truck is 7300, so actually higher. Only one factor, but I think the half ton would probably do just fine.

I appreciate your point of view, but are you 75 years old?

My grandfather was still getting in and out of grain trucks and other farm equipment in his 80s.
