I finally got my screens covered after driving it a while with just the valve pinned opened.  I was surprised at the difference it made.  Just right for me.  A little bit of sound, but nothing noisy or objectionable.  Didn't notice any drone yet.  Curious how it will be with a trailer.  You all are great.  Thanks for all the info!

keep you posted.

Thanks!!!

Nice, you’ll enjoy the slightly improved sound.

I did this a year ago. It contented me for about a year, and now I’m needing more. Ordered a GM Performance Exhaust today. ???

I just completed both parts of this hack, the flapper, and covering the screens. I'm truly surprised by the difference it makes. In my 2020, Custom Trail Boss, with 5.3 engine, it initially had almost no sound at idle. And now, I'm very impressed with the $15 I invested.

First things first, I tested it out after only opening the valve, and the sound was not impressive. To be honest, I almost stopped there. But I'm glad I didn't.

One thing I did a bit differently is how I solved for keeping the flapper open.  The 2020 Silverado has a round valve which is difficult to keep open with a single clamp. So, instead I turned the valve clockwise (open), and inserted a finishing nail through the top of the valve, and down towards the ground through the bottom part of the spring. It's difficult to explain, but with the nail, you are basically using it as a lever to hold the top part of the valve against the bottom part of the valve while in the open position.  This took a little bit of maneuvering, but in all, it only took about thirty seconds to get it wedged open. And while the valve is probably only about 90% open, and is still a drastic improvement over the baseline.

Also, as I don't believe I saw this anywhere else, if you have split exhaust, you'll have six screens you'll need to cover.

Can you post a pic of this? I understand but am a visual person

finally done a couple of days ago, had spare clamps/aluminum at home to complete the job. It was FREE of cost.

It does sound much better than the closed valves, however in the future, will do muffler/valve delete.

Almost 200 posts and no one bothered to share what size clamps you all are using for the flapper? [emoji3061]

Is it really that hard to figure out? But a 2.5” should do it....I just used a clamp I had laying around the garage

Just did this today on my LT with the single exhaust. Valve clamped open and resonator screens covered. Just enough sound increase. These videos are remote starts at near operating temp, so a cold start should be a bit louder.

ok. I'm new here.. and I tried your all's suggestion and for some reason it didn't change the sound of my truck what-so-ever. I have a 2019 Chevy Trail Boss LT. To me is sounds the same as it did before. So, what ideas would you suggest???? I thought about just doing a muffler delete to get the better sound.. Thank you for any help you can give me.
