help please, what may be wrong? tranny????????????

i put old gas in my truck and soon after i got on the highway where when i stomped on the gas to move the rpm's flew up and i immeadeately stopped accelerating! it feels like the tranny is slipping. only when i really floor it. i also get severe hesatation when i get down to 1/4 tank of gas now. i am replacing the fuel filter to stop the hesatation when the gas it low. the engine defenitly isint getting gas when it is low, but im really worried about the slipping, or hesatation when i stomp it. What could cause the hesatation when i stomp it? Is there something more that i can check or clean, drain, before saying it is the tranny? could that bad gas have caused it? help please!!! ENGINE HAS PLENTY OF POWER AND RPMS GO UP BUT I STOP ACCELERATING! HELP THANKS

sounds like you're about to loose a tranny or part of it.. mine did that before it went.. only lost 3rd and 4th gears though, thankfully (so I could drive it to the dealership to fix it)
