2015 yukon headlights

Question ?? does anyone know if the 2018 Yukon "HID" headlight assembly will fit my 2015 Yukon ? and if so are they just plug and play or are the wiring harness's different ? I've been running aftermarket HID's and I'm tired of always having to work on them, just not reliable and the stock halogen bulbs in projectors just plain suck !!

I have done this exact swap. The entire headlamp assemblies themselves are a direct swap. Unfortunately, on SLE & SLT Yukons the voltage that is sent to the halogen headlamp bulbs is pulse width modulated (PWM). It means the voltage is pulsed rapidly by the BCM.

Here’s a video I did showing what that does to factory Denali HID headlamp assemblies.

You can see how the PWM voltage causes the HID ballasts to rapidly turn on/off until they go into protect mode and shut down.

I created a custom relay harness that connects between the headlamps and factory harness that solves this problem. The only evidence is an occasional notification via the OnStar diagnostic alert email that a bulb is out. There are no notifications/warning lights that come up on the cluster. It’s been working great for almost 2 years.

Wow, this is very helpful to me. The aftermarket HID kit from retrofitsource has a relay harness as well but the other parts such as ballasts and bulbs just haven't held up well for me. If I were interested in purchasing a set of 2018 headlights would you be willing to build and sell me a harness for them ? Thanks for your help.

That’s been my experience in the past as well with the aftermarket HID parts. I can build a harness for you. I just sent you a PM with instructions.

One suggestion. The HID bulbs included from the factory are Osram 4300k D3S type. I swapped in the Osram 66340 CBI D3S bulbs and have been very happy. https://www.theretrofitsource.com/d3s-osram-xenarc-66340-cbi-54703.html
