H11: Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0 LED Headlight Bulbs

Not trying to start an argument - you can run whatever bulbs you want - but I can tell you they were NOT designed for use in reflector housings.  This comes straight from Morimoto (not TRS).  I dealt with them last year during the development of these bulbs.  They are made to replace halogen bulbs in projector housings.  That's why I asked about your housings.

Again, I'm not flaming, just informing.  You can run whatever you are happy with (that's what is great about USA!)

That is exactly what Morimoto found during testing.  The 2.0 bulbs are a great design but the GM projectors suck.  Morimoto recommends retrofitting with better projectors if possible but they will still sell you the bulbs either way.

No offense taken.  I appreciate other's peoples input, even when it's because of my ignorance.  I WILL say that I could have SWORN that I read that they were a standard replacement for regular halogen headlights.  That's the only reason I bought them.  Now I feel like a complete idiot.  I admit it - I f'ed up.  I like to think I'm pretty good about this kind of thing, but not this time. Allow me to bow my head in shame for a minute...:sigh:

You guys are right, they are whiter than the SilverStars, but not the same distance.  Well, not to figure out what to do.  Maybe I can find a set of projectors somewhere that won't break the bank...

I recall (but not 100% certain) that TRS tested the 2.0’s in non-projector F-150 halogen headlamp housings and they worked really well.

I do think my issue was the GM projectors are not very good. TRS have a stock Subaru projector they use to test the beam and it worked really well in their testing room. They showed me a bunch of different HID components before I chose the ballast and temp.

I can attest that they don’t work worth a damn in the projector style halogen headlight housing. They look brighter but they don’t throw the light down the road. I bought them through TRS (they’re local to me) and they allowed me to exchange them for HID’s which are so much brighter. If I had to do it over again, I should upgraded the projectors at the time too.

I read about that so I went with the Morimoto HID 4500k 35w HID's and got the Morimoto LED fogs. No complains, they throw great light. People don't seem to enjoy them when I am cresting a hill and they are below the cut off line though haha.

Technically they ARE a replacement for halogen bulbs but some vehicles come with Halogen bulbs in Projector housings (2014-2018 LTZ, High Country, Denali).  However the lower-model trucks come with halogen bulbs in Reflector housings.  So you are correct -- the 2.0's can replace halogen bulbs.  They just are meant to be used in projector housings.  Unfortunately neither TRS or Morimoto explain this on their websites.
