What color should I wrap my chrome?

Recommended Posts

The steps you have and wheels you want clash with the chrome, you've got to choose a look for the truck... If you are set on those steps and wheels then go for body color bumpers and ditch the TG lettering.

OR - get different steps and pick some chrome wheels you like.

First of all thanks for the advice.  I geniunely appreciate it as I don't want my truck to look dumb.  I think I'm at least half way there if not there already.

I guess one thing that intrigues me is how much black and chrome can go together, if at all.  For instance from the factory this thing has chrome bumpers but also black in the grill, black around the windows, black step in the middle of the chrome bumper, black hitch thingy.

So first of all I really want to keep these running boards, no doubt about that.  Having said that I suppose the chrome needs to go.  So my concern is that I don't want the the fit and finish to be sub par.  For instance my fiancee's civic has some pink wrap on her chrome pieces and I can see the line where the wrap ends in several places up close.   It just doesn't look that great up close.  Also paint matched wrap is the most expensive by a long shot.  I think it's at least $800 in material, if not more depending on how much I would need.  Black would be basically free at this point it's basically already paid for.  Carbon fiber same deal.

So what the heck should I do at this point.  Does my truck look like it clashes a lot now?

Carbon fiber will look awful. Definitely dont do that. It will look super cheesy. I mean, carbon fiber isnt used for bumpers so that would be weird no matter what.

If they can actually match the color, then body color would be the best option. I'm skeptical that it will look perfect though. If the truck was black then it wouldn't be a problem. Not sure if they actually print vinyl with custom colors or what.

I would say black would work, but blue is the only color that I don't dig black accents with. For whatever reason it looks odd to me. Do they make the trail boss in blue? That would show you the result if you were curious.

My vote would be to explain to the shop that you changed your mind, but that's just me. It would suck to spend cash and not be stoked on it.

The blue trail boss comes with gloss black bumpers.  I mean it looks good to me but honestly the truck looks good to me right now also.  I guess the question is does it look better like that or the way I have it?  I like how shiny the chrome is lol.

Looks like they used carbon fiber on this Silverado but yeah I'm leaning against that now.

You have Chrome bumper's  (front/rear) , grill , tailgater emblem - Which way do you want to go  ???  Like other's have said - ALL Chrome , Black or Body color . If it was me I body color the Bumper's , Grill ( leave center black ) , mirror's ,  smoke emblem's ( door / tailgate )  Flat Black for Chevrolet on tailgate and  Black rims . BUT that's me .

Wish I could find some wrap in the shadow gray metallic color. I’ve looked everywhere online with no luck!

Supposedly you can get it made to match any paint code.  Pretty pricy though.  From what I understand I don't think it would look 100% the same as the paint depending on the lighting and the angle you look at it.  Probably not worth the cost but it's an option at least.

So here's what I'm thinking (don't really have much money at the moment to do much else lol).  I like the look of the truck as is.  I've been looking at different trucks and I like the blue, black, chrome combo.

I will eventually go with some black 18 or 20" wheels with 33" tires or what not.

Like this truck looks good to me.

I just can't get rid of the chrome.  I like the contrast honestly.  Another thing is the chrome would be hard to completely get rid of since it's on all the badges and the door handle buttons are silver/chrome looking.  So no wrap.  What do you think?  Can I pull off some black wheels?  I appreciate the feedback.  Sorry I'm being stubborn lol.
