I would not want that in my car. I had it in the rental Audi A6 and absolutely hated it, could not find a way to turn it off.

 

The car slammed its brakes a few times while I was in the middle of changing lanes and it disrupted the flow of traffic and got a lot of people angry at me, thinking it was intentional.

 

So glad RST is not going to get it.

I didn’t get why people like this you know the truck must just bang the brakes in some situations that just not necessary like somebody cut close to you and the truck thinks it  needs to hit the brakes. Might even get you in a wreck.

Im glad the rRST doesn’t get it too. Less $ even tho I don’t really care for the blind spot alerts ether I drive a lot never smacked anybody yet lol

Don't mean to be negative but I agree with the above post.  Only thing safety related on my truck that I don't have that I think would be helpful are the parking sensor things.  That and maybe some extra cameras.  First time truck owner here so some extra assurance when parking would have been nice but not enough of a big deal for me to justify upgrading from the LT.  So far I haven't hit anything and parking has been relatively easy, granted I go for easy spots so to speak.  

 

I set my mirrors to have as little blind spot as possible.  I personally think most people don't know how to adjust their mirrors.  Anyway sorry for the rant, I just wanted to participate in the discussion.

 

Anyone out there excited for the adaptive cruise control?

Ha ha, I am the same way. I have to lean just a little bit to see the sides of my truck on both mirrors. I have both adjusted as far out as possible to remove the blind spot.

I agree, most people don't know how to adjust their mirrors. I see so much wasted space!

Yep, exactly.  That's how I do the initial adjustment and then verify that a vehicle moves from my rear view to my side view, and then from the side view to my peripheral vision.  Pretty much no blind spot.  No need for any blind spot monitoring for me as far as I am concerned.

Supposedly the correct way to adjust the mirrors is to sit in normal driving position and adjust driver side mirror to where the very rear of the car is just out of view. And for the passenger side you lean over to the center of the car and adjust the passenger mirror to where the rear of the vehicle is barely in the view while leaning over. I've tried it, it's different and hard to get used to because it's out of the norm. I moved them back to what I was comfortable with and just physically turn my head and look before I switch.

 

On another note, I have the crash detection in my high country and while it has helped sometimes, it's also gotten me into a few too close for comfort situations on the highway while switching lanes, the adaptive cruise control sounds like it does a little of the same if you switch lanes and are behind someone closer than who you were following before. Not sure if I'd like that personally

Not for me. I always back in my parking spot at home and my right tire is inches away from the curb because of this senile old lady and her huge Eldorado, long story, but I need to see my right rear tire when I back in.

I feel that. I have to see my truck in my mirrors, and i back into parking spots as well, the auto tilt on my tow mirrors help out for seeing how close to curbs or lines I am

Auto tilt, I never knew it was optional. It's a nice feature to have. The way it is, I'm leaning to the center while backing in and my right tires are an inch away from the curb. I dread windy days, one of these days, her wide doors are going to slam into my truck. 3 or 4 in the morning, I hear a thunk and I run to my window and there's nothing outside.

Do you have running boards? I've noticed mine stick out just enough that a car door will hit them, but anything higher like a SUV or truck will get the doors

Mine doesn't stick out but I have a trailer hitch just for parallel parking. In Germany, I was told to get that on my Omega before going to Paris so that they don't hit my bumpers while fitting in their parking spot. I have the really cheap ones and try to park at the end. So many trucks and SUV s that will miss the running boards!

I just went outside, realized she could have hit it. No damage so far probably because I'm so far away. She uses a walker and I cringe when she opens that wide ass door. Sometimes she's two spots away but lately she's been parking right next to my car so I go out and check. This is downright unsettling.

I know what you mean. I want to get the amp steps, but I'm torn just because then absolutely every vehicle will hit the door, and while I'm living in an apartment complex that's gonna be a no go
