2019 on the lot or order a 2020 ??

Recommended Posts

Well I don't know what it costs a company like GM to rework a model just 1 year after release but it sure must affect sales and buyers.

I'm ready to buy a Trail Boss Custom, but having read that the 6.2L-10 Speed will be made available for the 2020 MY I kind of feel like waiting.

Challenges here are that dealers don't seem to be aware of this update, or that I should be able to order already, or what pricing looks like. Meanwhile very happy to cut me a deal on one of their 2019 Trail Boss Customs sitting on their lot.

Having a 6.2 I may be a bit biased but after owning 3 other 5.3's in Tahoe's I'd never want to go back. The 5.3 is a great engine but the 6.2 just wow's me every time I drive it.

Pretty sure orders for 2020s haven’t opened yet. There is a guy on FB whose 2019 is being built first week of June. 2020 build doesn’t start until August. Can you wait that long? I couldn’t went 19 HC with trailboss lift.

I would wait. You can't beat the 6.2l and once you drive it you will smile every time you get in the truck.

Yep this is what I want!

Should have been able to order a 2020 model since early May. Thats when the order banks opened.

2020 production starts in the first week of August with Deliveries at the end of September earliest.

The HD ordering opened but don’t believe the 1500s. I had info and it said first week of June. I spoke with my dealer on Saturday and they can’t order 2020s yet.

Could be. I could handle that.....

1st week of June is the day after tomorrow. :D

I'll see what they know next week and pricing.

Personally, I would wait and get the 2020 6.2L, if that's what you're feeling an inclination towards. Better to wait a few months and be happy with what you get vs. buy something now and regret it.

I love my 5.3L in my RST, but I would have most certainly bought the 6.2L if it was an option back in early March when I bought my 2019.

Just wait it out! 4 months isn’t very long. The 6.2 with the 10speed gets like the same mpg so you won’t be losing out there. You will have more power if you need it and the 6.2 just sounds wayyyy better?

I just got off the phone with my sales manager / factory order guy.

As Ryan said. HD Orders opened on May. 1500 Silverado orders for 2020 Open 6/1/19 (tomorrow). However the build program allows you to build the 2020 as of today.

HOWEVER.

He tried to build a 2020 LT Trailboss with all the same options I ordered in the 2019 (which I will no longer be getting... they weren’t thrilled) and add the 6.2 / 10 Speed. He told me that according to the build sheet it was a $2495 Additional Charge, however that option was blacked out / unable to be selected at this time on the build program. So as of right now, it doesn’t look like Chevy is taking orders just yet on the 2020 LT Trailboss with the 6.2. He also said that he has seen it before where on new MY options like this, Chevy has opened ordering for specific options up later towards the end of the year.

If anyone heard differently. Please let me know. I want to get on this list ASAP. But above is an hour old update from the guy at my dealership that places all the factory orders.

I went through the same  dilemma last week. I opted to save $13,200 below MSRP on a 2019 exactly as I wanted it (special order). If I was not retired and trying to learn to live on a strict budget I may have gone with a 2020. It will be a long time before serous incentives and rebates are available on 2020’s and if you do have a trade in it will be a year older and worth less. Now is the best time to buy the “All New Silverado”. My thoughts are I saved enough that if I drive it for 3 years under warranty I should be able to trade for a new one later without getting killed. Good luck and don’t settle - get what you really want. ?

6.2 made me smile every time I started it and cry every time I compared the high test price with the regular price.
