looking at 18 denali but blue dash lights?

Recommended Posts

GMC switched to a blue theme (same as Chevy) starting with the 2017 MY. My buddy’s ‘16 Sierra is red, my ‘17 Sierra is all blue. Including the infotainment system

I think the blue is classier and will age better. The red reminds me of 90s pontiac.

Classier maybe, but terrible for night vision.  BMW and Audi were great for that.. nice subtle red and/or orange clusters.  Pontiac went a bit too far with their red but it was still a good thing in general.

I guess since they all have bright LCD panels in them the individual switch lighting color is a moot point.

Some people prefer red. I loved the Pontiacs. Like my GMC red cluster better as well. Distinguished it from the Chevy truck. One of GM's worse decisions was to quit the sporty Pontiac brand.

Love my red, 2016 first year of the redesign last year of the red I got all the good bells and whistles IMO. Lets face it its not the old 90's early 2000's LCD clock red give me a break comparing it to the older Pontiac's. Funny cause all the needles are red and I don't see anyone complaining.

Yup I got a 16 that's still red. I remember looking at a new 17 during an oil change. I Commented to my salesmen they switched the lights to blue. GMC has been red lights for a long time. Even their logo is red. I'm sure it was a cost saving to a bean counter somewhere and probably got an award for saving the company some money.

Went from a ‘15 to an ‘18 All Terrain and that was a “darnit” moment for me when I found they switched to blue. I test drove the ‘18 in the daytime and signed the paperwork and drove her home in the daytime. It wasn’t till a couple of days later I noticed the blue. Wouldn’t of changed my decision at all by any means but to me the red was a nice touch I really liked over the blue in the Silverado. After owning the ‘18 for almost a year it doesn’t really make a bit of difference to me anymore.

I went from red in my '14 Denali to blue in my current '17.  Being an Ocean Blue Metallic truck, I prefer the blue gauges.  Then again, I have been converting anything red to blue on my '17 as well...not a red fan I guess.

90s Pontiacs were more Orange like some of the Nissan Maxima/Altima Models.

I prefer the Red in my Sierra over the blue. Not as distracting at night.

T1 trucks are basically white lit backgrounds.

For a company that wants to differentiate the brands and publicly cry out that is their intention...The single easiest and cost effective way would be RED lights for GMC and Blue lights for Chevy...most LCD's can color render.  Keep the same bulbs GM use different voltage regulators?

Yep. My first car 1991 Audi 90 Quattro 20V had red and orange cluster. I liked it and was a good theme.

Drove a few 2000's era Pontiac and no thanks on the horrible knobs and the red backlighting.
