Lift and or tire upgrade with 6'10" garage?

Recommended Posts

2019 4WD LT Z71 Texas Edition if any of that matters.  First time truck owner here and I am loving it!  I came from a little focus ST and I've always driven small cars.  I am 6'2" 240 and counting (weight not height obviously lol).  Along with my belly my family has grown.  Have two kids and hopefully no more!

I digress....So I want to know if I have any options to go higher.  The parking garage at work says "Entrance/ Clearance 6'10".  So that's my limit.  I like the look of 18" or maybe 20" rims on 33-35" tires.  Right now the truck has 265/65R18.  Doesn't look half bad at all but just seeing if I can plan to lift it any?

I THINK the truck is about 6'3" right now with the XM antenna maxing out at 6'5".  Does that sound right?  I wouldn't want to park outside the garage because there is a lot of theft and break ins and what not in the parking lot (even though we have security).  Just a couple of weeks ago they tried to steal a lifted Silverado and tore the guys steering column all up.   Also I have leather seats and don't want the seats to crack or the paint to fade aa much as I can help it (I just cleaned up the car port at home (or should I say truck port?) And the truck fits perfectly.

Anyway, I don't know much about trucks or tires and what not so any advice is appreciated!

I have a trail boss with the factory 2 inch lift and 18 inch stock 275/65/18 tires. I just went through a 7 ft clearance parking. My antenna hit every concrete roof support. The truck roof had very little Clearance. I would not take my truck in a 6 ft 10 with the factory 2 inch lift. It was nerve wracking enough in a 7 ft garage.

My parking garage at work is also 6'10".  I have a Trail Boss and with the lift my antennae hit every support as well.  I eventually just got a slightly shorter factory style antennae.

A - get some accurate measurements. Garage height and your truck. Also your tires and what you want to run. That way you know for sure how much height you have to play with.

B - do you want to actually lift it or just run bigger tires?  You could fit at least a 2” taller 33” tire stock. That would likely clear the garage without issue since your height only goes up half the diameter increase.

Nice looking Silverado I like the color!  I'd go with 33's on the stock suspension, if you want a more level look, lower the back a bit, if you can give up the hauling capacity...

Yeah even at stock height it is a little nerve racking.  I took a coworker to lunch one day and he was a bit freaked out and said it was scary how close the roof seemed to the top.  I have not gotten out and looked but but my antenna does hit.

Nice, it sounds like I may be able to go a couple inches higher then.  What size tires are you running?

A.  yeah I really need to do this.  I'll have to come one day after hours so I can measure carefully.

B.  I want a lift, but would consider doing upgraded tires only if the truck wouldn't fit in the garage with a lift and bigger tires.

Thanks!  and honestly I won't ever haul much.  An option would be to raise the front a little too right?  I think that would probably be a little better.  A level and 33's at the very least?
