Gmc 03 gumper fog lights?

I had this done at the GM dealer where I got my truck. The dealer had to remove the entire bumper b/c they said the paint would have cracked if they didn't when they were being punched. Instead, they cut out the blank from the back. Also, the reason I had the dealer install the setup was b/c the computer has to be programmed before they will work. Something about having more than 4 headlights on at the same time. Which is why when you turn on the fogs lights when your highs are on...the highs disable into low beams....Good luck. My truck was in the shop for 2 days..........2500HD 2003 GMC. 1200 miles......

Bah- that's the hard way. I can not believe you have to connect fog lights to the computer :smash: ???

What's wrong with.....

First, the holes can be easily and safely removed with a Dremel or die grinder and the right bit- it's just plastic !! (I'll let you know how it goes- no fogs here, either :wtf: !!)

I'll find some I like that'll fit well, use the same trigger-wire for the high-beam relay for the new relay. You can always mount a 3-way rocker switch for manual/auto/off action ....

I'm assuming this is fine as it's what I've always done with no problems (got it from my ole man, and he ain't ever had problems with it either, and he ties his hi-beams into his horn, even !! Honk, get hibeams, too !! It's actually pretty cool in action, even tho it does sound corny :D !!!).

Anyone see any fatal-flaws here :D ??

Thanks.

Smoke

BTW, my low beams stay on with my high beams....y'all got jipped :P:D !!!!! (what's up with that ??)

So if you order a truck without the fog lights & install them after the fact, without going to the dealer, will they work with the high beams on, or will they not work at all? Does the reprogramming activate them?

If they would work with the high-beams, you'd have some killer lights with a Kennedy setup as well (all four headlighs on too)....

I just got my fog lights in, It looks great. Total price for the project $588. the dealer said they did'nt touch the computer, they used a kit made for the job from GM, they also installed the factory foglight switch, when I want them on I turn them on, and for $588 you bet they are on... Thanks for the advice. Tim

Well, I don't have the Kennedy harness -- mine is from suvlights.com -- but I can have all four lights AND my fogs on whenever I'd like. :fume:

 Tell me your kidding. Tell me it was a typo, and that you really didn't mean to say $588.

If not, then I think you may have been taken for a ride. I bought a brand new PIAA airdam, PIAA foglights and PIAA Extreme White bulbs for them and paid about half what you did.

Man, that is one out of line price. :fume:

  • 2 weeks later...

I ordered the oem fog lights and had them installed by my dealer for the same price as the factory wanted...$140.00 which included the computer reprograming. It looks like someone was sleeping on the job :) , and got :). It would make one want to  I would consider going back to the dealer for a refund.

By the way, just how do you remove a hole?
