There is a recommendation of waiting 30 seconds before putting the transmission into the gear, to let the computer boot up properly. I think it shouldn't hurt if you try this too. I know, but it also did that a few times when the auto/stop was activated so I'd have to be gentle with the gas pedal. That's why I don't think it's computer-related. It really feels like two big metals clashing into each other. Then goes away about ten seconds later. I keep the auto stop thing off by having air conditioner on full blast. You should also ask them to compare yours with the ones in their lots.

Before, the abrupt downshifting caused my truck to fishtail on a very straight but dirty road while I wasn't pushing the gas or the brakes. The back end tightened up and I nearly ran over a pedestrian but he was quick enough to jump out of the way. I was pissed about that, it was clearly a safety issue. Turned out my tires were over-inflated and I added some weight to the back. It doesn't seem to be jumpy anymore. The dealership reprogrammed the transmission and the clunking hasn't gone away but the unexpected downshifting seems to be gone. Some did mention the clunking eventually went away as it was driven more. I am also doing the 10 to 15 second wait before shifting it to drive. The longer the auto-stop is on, the clunkier it gets when the engine starts. I do think it's going away.. I don't know really.. but it's bearable at the moment although my truck still startles a few passengers in the back.
RUSSH
FWIW, my 2019 5.3L feels just as strong as my 2017 6.2L did. Not worth the extra $$ jumping up to a 6.2L, other than the luxuries of an LTZ. Hell my 2013 6.2L felt stronger than my 2017 6.2L. Just my opinion though.
DianaNeal39
I traded my 2016 6.2 (8 speed) for 2019 6.2 (10 Speed) what a difference. You can't go wrong. GM should be required to replace all of the 8 speeds.
