Catch Can/Oil Separator

Recommended Posts

Two quick questions:

Is a catch can the same thing as an oil separator or is this any additional benefits to one or the other?

Also is anyone running the JLT 3.0 Oil Separator? Pros and Cons

https://www.jlttruecoldair.com/jlt-3-0-oil-separator-2014-18-chevy-gmc-trucks-suvs-with-5-3l-v8/

Been reading up on the concept and thinking of putting one on my 2018 5.3 silverado. Thanks in advance!

Check out one of the many posts on the site.

There seems to be no middle ground, either you believe they work or you do not.

It gets pretty heated with the back and forth for supremacy of who is right.

Rally_18 - I just put some hoses on the stock snap fittings and ran them out the back of the block to "vent to atmosphere" on my turbo build 6.2. Its really up to you; its just something else you have to check from time to time with a catch can. Its a good thing to do, because no doubt, you will capture some oil especially with race applications.

i found if your commuting , get the catch can for the pcv system only.... and if your racing you want the catch can for both the crank case, and the pcv... unless your revving hard theres not much oil injesting in from the engine case....
