They can try to get it out with glue tabs, if they can’t get access with their pdr tools.

I have a whole kit of those things. They work pretty good, but you have to do it a few times.

All the panels that open on the Sierras are aluminum. Doors, hood, and tailgate.

Pretty sure the fuel door is plastic. Sure does feel like it to me...

Maybe I’m wrong .  Where did you get the info on that?

Uncle.  Had 3 other pdr companies pass on the repair.  Went to 2 body shops that had less than convincing estimates.  Took it back to the dealer, no-go.  They said there is a dealer a few hours away that can handle it.

Decided to fix it myself and wait for more of these to enter the repair market.  Go easy on me guys, she will get fixed correctly asap.

The hood release lever is also plastic.

Yes it is and flimsy too lol.  When I changed my grille I had to remove it and when I closed the hood I realized I forgot to install it back :nono:.  Luckily I  managed to use a plastic trim removal tool and reach in between the hood and top shroud moving the latch to release it.

Sure seems like a lot of orange peel to your paint as well from the pic.

It is impossible for a robot to lay down a quality paint job.

It's long been my understanding that you can thank the new world order governments. Of course this includes the US for the piss poor paint jobs on today's vehicles.  Painters have told me the mandated shift to water based paint is the culprit.  Very difficult to get a decent job with PC paint.  The Corvette team just spent a small fortune building a brand new paint plant to improve the paint quality.  I doubt it will be "great" as nobody in the mass production segment has figured it out.

I hope painters will correct me if I'm wrong...

Meh.  They will figure it out and the world will be better off for everyone.  No one will remember the whiners in between.

That’s what I would have done. Red letters look good too!

I surmise the water base is only the base coat and not the clear.  At least that's how it's been in recent years.  I remember GM using water base paint in the late 80's early 90's and the paint would peel like crazy but, this wasn't fault of the paint and was a primer issue. Primers have been changed to work with water based paint and is no longer a problem. GM has been using water base paint for many years now.  So then, has the clear changed to water base for '19?   When I was looking at trucks in February, my dealer had 300 + Silverado's in stock.  The orange peel varied between trucks and I did see an inconsistency.  Some trucks had more orange peel than others and some were really smooth looking with very little orange peel.  Could be between the different plants???  IDK. One reason I chose this truck is because the clear coat had little orange peel (it does have some) and was the smoothest looking with the clearest reflections out of the bunch with the color and options I was looking for.  It hasn't been polished or waxed yet. This is a Ft. Wayne assembly truck.
