Lock boxes and storage

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, recently purchased an AT4 and wanted to get some information and tips on some storage ideas/venders. I tried searching the forum for the topic but didn’t come up with anytbing.

Who has a center console lock box? What is the brand and your opinion on the box?

Who has aftermarket or GM under seat storage? Is it worth the upgrade from the stock carpeted bin?

Finally, has anyone installed a swing out tool box from the bed?

They use aftermarket suppliers. The console vaults are only made by two companies I believe. Console Vault is the original and Lock'er Down. Lock'er Down "stole the design" according to the guy at console vaults....

I have the GM console safe and I’m pretty happy with it. Went in easy and has a nice fit and finish. I did buy a magnet and bolted it into the inside before install. Just to hold my pistol from getting bounced around.

The bottom is foam but the sides are just metal. I debated carpeting them but no real need with the magnet.

And then for the top, I bought:

Vehicle OCD - Center Console Organizer Tray for Chevy Silverado 1500 / GMC Sierra 1500 (2019) - Made in USA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N9XPTVD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EHA3CbR9ZRS63

The tray is nice, quick to remove and adds a lot of extra organization above the safe.

Got these swing-outs as dealer installed option.  $10 less than buying them from Amazon and installing them myself.  The right one holds all my "emergency stuff" like tow strap, mini compressor, jump start power pack (I won't leave it there during the hot AZ summer), gloves, visi-vest, etc.  The other one will depend on what activity I'm going to be up to (camping, shooting......).  They're deep and have a single removable tray and the shallow part is isolated by a partition.  If you're wanting to put hand tools in one, it'll be problematic to dig in there and get the right tool; another tray would help.  You can lock the lid and padlock the box in the truck if needed.

The tri-fold cover will be replaced next week with a shell, but regardless, the boxes will be locked inside the truck thanks to the locking tailgate.

I like 'em!

I have the drivers side box.

Mine does not have the provision to padlock to the bracket like the swing case available non/GM accessories box does. I was disappointed by that but I will rig something up.

How are you padlocking yours in?

I just returned the GM lock box for the center console.  You lose a good 1.5 inches of room and you can not use the GM organizer as it is to deep and hits the top of the lock box.  I must say the quality did seem very good though.

Thanks guys, exactly what I was looking for. I’m glad to see you can fit an organizer on top the lock box.

Yeah, just not the GM one. Get the Amazon one because it’s cheaper, nicer quality and clears the lock box fine. The GM organizer was a big disappointment for me anyway. Sold it.

I'm not. The cover locks when the tailgate is up, so padlock isn't required. The same will be true with the shell.
