AT4 ordering

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

So I am in the market for a new truck and I've decided I would love to try and get a new Sierra AT4 in black. My problem is all these dealers are ordering with stuff I really don't want or new. Im pretty much wanting the base model with added AT4 preferred package. I don't want forward collision or all the extra stuff. Is the At4 something I can just go in and order the truck I want or its in the lines of like the trd pro where the dealership is only allowed so many allocations a year?

Plenty of dealers out there that should be able to order what you want.

Try Laura Buick GMC in Illinois. Not far from St. Louis. Currently one on the lot with the AT4 preferred package and

Also depends on if you want a 5.3 or 6.2 , CC or DC

I would write out a list of options you need, colour, crew or dbl cab, 18" or 20", 5.3L engine etc. then take it to your dealer, if they don't have one they can select all the options you want and do a "dealer search" if they find one in a reasonable distance, 300mi or so they will often trade one of their units for the one you want. This is how I got both of my last 2 All Terrains. I only ended up with 2 options I didn't want, the sliding glass window and GPS, but I have grown to appreciate the power slide window. This is often the cheaper route because you can wait until the best incentives are on, then go and get one. If you order, you are stuck with whatever incentives are current when the truck finally gets delivered.

Yeah I've heard of Laura. Do you have any personal experience with them? I get nervous going to far to get a deal. Im afraid they will give me the price in the email then when I get up there they will change the numbers and it won't be what was told to me.

No personal experience. Just what I read and heard from some members here.

They seem to have a large selection.

You could always have your dealer do a transfer if you find one elsewhere.

Yeah, ask your dealer to find one for you. I don't think any dealers would have an issue swapping them on the floor. It's pretty easy.

I had my dealer find the exact RST that I wanted, which was about 250 miles away. They got it to my dealer in less than 3 days.

FWIW, I'm a 58 year old hard core car guy.  I've NEVER bought a vehicle from dealer stock.  I've always ordered my vehicles as I want them equipped to my liking, not some dealer choosing stupid options I generally wouldn't want even if they were free.  I ordered an AT4 and took delivery around first of the year and just turned 8,000 miles.  I choose the AT4 as it was the vehicle I wanted due to the vast assortment of standard equipment that comes with the package.  The only 2 options I ordered were the 18" DuraTrac tires and the rear under seat storage container.  I REALLY like the under seat storage container!!!  I spent right around $500 on the 2 options all in and have zero regrets.  Well, maybe one, the Driver Alert Package 1 for $890 seems like it would be nice to have.  I've noticed and driven other vehicles with "lane change alert" which warns if another vehicle is near me in an adjacent lane or in my blind spot by turning on an amber light on the outside mirror(s).  Pretty cool feature.  For $890 I wish I would have ordered it.

I find it astonishing that anybody would spend as much money as new vehicles cost and not get exactly what they want instead of what some guy sitting in a dealer cubicle decides to order for the lot.  I'm heavily into in vehicles as a hobby and racer.  I've bought 6 new Corvettes since 2010 and have ordered them all equipped as I wanted.  I've also ordered a half dozen or so Tahoe's and truck's in a similar time frame and a new Jeep JL Wrangler.  Too much money to not get what you want but better yet, to get what you don't want.

I bought mine off the lot. The only thing I didn't want was the Driver Alert II package. I had to drive about 90 miles to get it.

I got a sunroof, AT4 Premium pkg, and the Offroad Perf Pkg. all of which I wanted.

Problem was that every dealer close to me had a large supply of Black and White trucks. Got a Pacific Blue basically the way I wanted. They're out there, you just have to look. Took me a week to find it.

You'll get a better deal if you buy off the lot vs special order. I basically didn't pay for what I didn't want plus a better discount.
