I saw that Kooks is offering exhaust and headers for the 6.2 and 5.3 models.  Anyone planning on getting them?  I'd like to have the headers/y-pipe combo but it's still a little rich for my blood so far.  Hopefully prices will come down once they've been out a while.

Wow! $4k for a little sound and better flow just to be choked back down by cats. I'd rather spend that plus 2 more on a supercharger

I don’t disagree at all, kooks usually makes really good stuff. I know the corvette guys swear by them but at 3100 for just the headers....I’m gonna pass.

Kooks makes good stuff, but, Man! that's spendy!  Tempting, but I'll wait a while to see what others will be offering and some comments from actual customers; no feedback on their web site yet.  And thinking about getting down in there to reach the old headers and install the new ones doesn't fill me with excitement......  Man, they really buried the engine down in there, didn't they???

Best headers I ever had on a truck were Doug Thorley try-wyes, but that'll never fit on my new truck.

I do wanna get me some headers.......

If your going to supercharge headers are a must.  I have stainless works on my supercharged 408 stroker in my 03 2500hd. Real nice quality headers that fit perfect, sad part is the expensive headers last and fit perfect.

Headers are good at all power levels with the flow, the smaller flow tubes help the torque range. A full exhaust with the headers is a must if u want the full potential.

prices went down starting at  $1,389.75.

I do have Kooks headers/cat-less down pipes on my Redeye, with stock muffler and really sounds great!

btw, Kooks products are very good in sound and finish.

at this moment NOT planning on installing headers on my Trail Boss, prefer muffler delete/CAI.

Isn't it a good idea to do the exhaust when adding a supercharger?  You are cramming more air into the cylinders and expecting it to flow out the stock exhaust and not take a performance hit?

Yes you absolutely want more flow out when adding a supercharger, but if i went that route, I would eliminate the cats altogether to allow for more out flow. Doesn't matter now since I traded the truck in for a diesel

You can take stock manifolds pretty far in some cases. The CTSV and ZL1 camaro's will do alot more power than stock with factory manifolds. Even back in the day with the Cobra/Terminators, guys kept the stock manifolds because they still make good power.

Even most of the turbo LS's run stock manifolds or at least the drivers side is factory with a new cast turbo manifold on the passenger side.
