2019 Silverado

400 w factory converter. I ran my motum,tv and firestick, and table lamp during a power outage. Worked great.   Need to put truck in neutral. parking brake on Ths keeps engine from shutting off

Looks like someone figured it out!

As well as a few others who know how to research things. I’d rather run a 1000w generator that’s maybe got a 55 cc motor than a 2720 cc motor lol. Wake zee fack up winer...ooh poor me...I just wanna party...stupid Chevy. Lmfao

I agree, running a generator makes more since vs a big-as truck to provide 400 watt, that's a joke.

Back when i still gave a damn about covid I was using it to power an oxone generator. If put groceries under tonneau and smog them out on the way home.  I got over that long ago tho

ya but did ya really? you've put a pronoun in your bio...just sayin, you've still got a little ways to go imo 😉

I carry med's that require being kept cold.  I run an electric cooler off of the box receptacle. I did have a deep cycle battery setup with a power port as a backup when I had to turn off the truck for ferry rides or lunch time stops. I just ordered from Amazon a 1200w portable power station. It provides 992Wh of power with 1200W continuous and 3600W peak output. I wanted to run my 115V, 5a (575W) house freezer with a 17.6 LRA (2235.2 surge watts) as well as the cooler in the back of the truck. Many of the power stations have pass through now so while traveling I'll plug the cooler into the power station and the power station into the 400w inverter of the truck. The 1200w power station max charges at 280w input and the cooler runs at 47w. Sounds great in theory doesn't it? lol

what brand did you go with? I have a 1500x goal zero that gives 140ah (1680wh) and can do 1500w continuous with I believe 3000w surge, in my trailer, runs freezer, and diesel heater, etc. and charges via 230w 115v input or solar (have 360w of renogy panels on roof), rarely need generator and now have the truck as back up charging supply as well but I'd only run the truck if I didn't grab the Yamaha 1000w gen, well played gm by offering this and 400w is a respectable number imo

Have a truck cap for camping in truck bed. Used it for running a small 350W wall mount radiant heater while driving to keep it warm before stopping or to run trickle charger on battery in the bed that has an inverter to run a few small things at night (like a fan on warm nights and cell charger)…just top off the charge again when driving.

So basically, the bed power outlet is only realistically useful if I need to charge something in the bed while driving.  Kind of a pointless option I guess.....

well running a dometic cfx fridge/freezer or a bar size freezer would work great while putting on the miles, still good for camping, overloading, hunting...and also charge power plants like goal zero/bluetti/jackery which can then give your juice and a lot more juice in the morning for coffee makers etc.

I wouldn't call that plug useless, but at 400w it was never going to be a generator replacement, so you have to understand it before you slam it. Nice to charge your proper generators from bed not sitting on the seat beside you in the cab from the internal 400w plug. Plenty of uses. Well done for providing this gm. And people need to learn about this stuff before crying wah wah wah about not having a 3500 watt generator everywhere all the time so they can live their best life...lmfao, gosh we're spoiled.

I use mine to keep one of my Streamlight flashlights charged and ready. I occasionally put my battery pack charger for my Milwaukee impact drill on it also. Just gotta remember to hit the button on the dash every few drives to turn it on and keep it charged.
