BedRug vs. 'Carpeted Bed Liner'

Recommended Posts

I have actually had an original BedRug in my 1994 Silverado since around 1998.  I have hauled everything imaginable on it without staining it.  I even know a guy who spilled 5 gallons of kerosene on it.  I really thought it would stain but he washed it right out with a pressure washer (although it did smell bad for a couple of weeks).  You can use a pressure washer, go to a manual car wash and use the wand, or use a Shop-Vac to clean it off.

The only thing you need to be careful with is leaving a point load on it for a long time.  For example I hauled my garden tractor with ag tires on it.  The divots where the bars of the tires were sitting took months to come out.  If you look closely you can still see them a little but for the most part they bounced back.

I bought a bedrug and It fit well, make sure you push it up in the front nice and snug before you start to velcro it down. Mine's a little off but it doesn't bother me. The quality of the thing is amazing and it has worked well for me for about a year.

How does a bedrug install around the different slots for the movable tie-downs?

Mine is here sitting in the garage in the box.  Sons prom is tonight so we've got all that going on.  As soon as he's gone I'm headed out to remove the drop in and install the bedrug.  I'll let you know how it goes.

There are marks on the back of the walls for the bedrug where you cut to expose the 4 lower permanent tiedowns if you want.  If you want to use the movable tiedowns you'll have to figure out wher to cut and do it yourself.  The bedrug covers them up and there are no marks to locate them on the bedrug.

Install wasn't too bad.  It's a chilly 45 here tonight so I had to install it by myself in the garage.  I'll have to wait for a nice hot sunny day to pull a few parts and adjust them to take out a few minor 'wrinkles'.

All in all, very happy with it and regretting not getting one for my 2014 when I had it.

I had the Bed Rug in my 2007 Classic crew cab.

It took a lot of abuse and still looked nice.

Hauling dirt and rocks were no problem.

Just being mindful that it isn’t a spayed on liner, I’ve used shovels and hoes getting dirt and rocks out, no problem.

I once had a gallon of OLD gear oil leak out, since I just knew it was ruined, I let it sit for two weeks before I tried to clean up.

I used my 3000 psi power washer on it with a little Tide washing powder.... end results was a clean bed rug with no stains.

One thing I did though, was, I ran a bead of chalking around the lip of tailgate portion to make a tighter fit to the tailgate instead of using Velcro tape. No cuts or stains after 12 years of use.

I’ll also add, things don’t slide around as much with the rug compared to the other bed liner options.

Is it just me or does anybody else think that if Bed Rug made house carpet that you could actually get stains out of like their mat they would be multi-billionaires? Roll up the living room carpet, haul it to the car wash, roll it out in the driveway to dry, and done...

I'd buy that, the wife, not so much.  I'd be perfectly happy with velcro'd carpet I could take outside and scrub in the driveway.  It's those damned pesky females ruining it for us.

since it's a industrial Velcro install, you can remove it, hose it off soap & water , pressure washer whatever, I then stand it up over a 6 foot Step ladder to drain & Dry, the closed cell foam doesn't soak up the water... drains out and dry's in less than an hour in the sun. drop it back in and check your Velcro...

I had a Bedrug in my last truck and loved it.  I put a rubber bed mat over it just to be able to take it out when a i had to haul on a clean bed.  One deer season I got a buck, field dressed it, and brought it out of the woods.  I got blood and hair on both the rubber mat and on the Bedrug.  The Bedrug cleaned up easier than the mat.

The Bedrug is not carpet but some kind of plastic.
