What are some problems with the lmm

Recommended Posts

The LMM had an injector that put raw fuel into the cylinders to reduce pollution but it had the effect of sending fuel into the crankcase and diluting the oil. Not unusual when changing the oil to be taking more "oil" out than went into the engine. More frequent oil changes can offset the problem to a degree. This engine was known for having DPF problems as well.

If it is the later 2007.5 and not the "2007 Classic" then it will have the LMM engine. I would recommend finding a 2007 with the LBZ engine which is going to be more reliable and does not have a DPF. The LBZ can also burn the non low sulfur diesel fuel found in Mexico without any problems.

If you get the LMM, the only thing i'd  get a good look at would be the Diesel Particulate Filter.  If it is still on there and original, by 200,000 miles the thing is probably going to be plugged and may need to be replaced or taken off and acid cleaned.  other than that and the door lock actuators going out, my 2008 LMM was an awesome and very reliable ride and I would not hesitate to get another one.  Let us know what you decide to do.  Have a pre-purchase inspection done on it as well.
