Yup finally retired the ole Wild Country's today and sold them as race slicks. Got a deal on 245/75R16's so back on they went. Don't look the best but the regained power is evident especially while towing. So I'm happy not to mention to be back into a 10ply tire that does squat and roll-over like those 285 load D tires did with a good load on the truck. Besides the looks they drive awesome and ride like a Caddy.

Talking about tires anyone notice how expensive rubber is since the whole War in Iraq thing. Dang man I when to price tires for my truck at a local shop and here are the prices.

Cooper AT's 245's 10ply Load E

$160.00 per tire

Bridgestone Revo's same as above

$190.00 per tire

Goodyear AT/S ditto

$165.00 per tire

Michelen ditto

$185.00 per tire

Firestone Steeltex AT ditto

$150.00 per tire, and they wore out super fast on my truck.

Ended up with a Sport King the same make as a Mud King tire. Got them for 115 a piece so I'm happy. Plus our Cummins is running them and currently has 58K on the tires and they are still going so hopefully they will last.

Alot of guys around here are running the "Sport King" tires. I think they are made by BFG... the tread pattern is like the BFG A/T tires. The guys that are running them, seem to get good tire life out of them. :(

Yeah as previously stated we are running them on the Cummins and dad's DMAX and they seem to be wearing like Iron.. Suposively according to the tire guy this is a Michelin rubber used.. He also informed me that Uniroyal, BFGoodrich are all part of the Michellin Group...whatever that is.. But so far so good. The truck rides better.. I'm getting 60miles more per tank average...which is just outstanding.. :chevy: maybe there's something to those GM engineers.. But I'll keep you guys up on the wear of these tires as time goes on.

Yea I'm getting close to needing new tires. The stock Firestones are wearing out with 40k on the truck. Those prices are totaly way out of line in my opinion but then such is life. Guess you just have to find the best deal and go with it. I was looking at the Cooper's. Just have to see I guess. I got about 10k more miles and then it will be time.

Those prices are AWESOME!! You should try pricing out some 36x14.50's!!! I am thinking of going back to stock too just for the price of tires!!

I heard that... My 1986 K30 I put two sets of 39x16.50 Mickey's on it.. It about killed me to put tires on that thing.

Yeah, those prices are high. The 245 E rated REVO's aren't more than $160 when I priced them out. Went with 265 D's instead though which were a few bucks cheaper and I wanted to get away from those cookie-cutter 245's.

I was the same way before too. I've had many sets of 285's and a couple of 305's look great... Wear like s**t lose low-end grunt and they are all only D rated that doesn't allow for my kind of use. I need the 10ply Load E tire. I always run 80psi in my tires and they are always expected to haul "heavy" loads heavy by BDBWTE definition is the trucks weight and an average payload of over 3,000lbs. and sometimes over 5,000lbs... yes in a 2500HD pickup... No I'm serious we have a scale and I way the truck before and after loading.

I have alomost 45000 miles on my factory firestone 245's and they have worn good. I will look at 265's for my truck next summer, I think. I will have close to 55000 miles on it by that time. I have been putting around 22000 miles on my truck a year. I use it for everything from work to play. It is a Chevy so it will last!:thumbs:
