4-By-4
Sure hope someone can give me a hand here. I have a new 03 2500 HD with the trailer package. Just received a prodigy brake controller with the correct 03 harness plug. I "thought" I plugged the controller into the cable, with the plug in the proper slot in the firewall box, and got an indication. I removed the cable from the controller to mount it, and when I plugged it in, no joy on the controller. So, I measured the voltage across the black and white wires, which are supposed to be ground and 12v. Got zippo. Do I have to add a fuse in there somewhere? Nothing came with my "kit". What fuses would I check to see if I somehow blew a fuse? Thanks for your help....
c5hd
You;re not supposed to need a fuse. It sounds like if it worked before you unplugged it, you either blew a fuse or damaged the wire harness. The owners manual says the trailer fuse is Stud #2 in the underhood fuse box. Also try hitting the brake pedal after it is hoked up. The controll goes to sleep after 15 min of non-use. It should power cycle when you plug it in, but you never now. Also if you had the door open for a while, and the truck shut the accessory power off to save the battery. Just some ideas.
N900WM
And make SURE you have the correct wiring harness! My dealer installed a 2002 wire harness in my 03 and I had similiar problems till they figured it out.
Shaners
I'd check the fuses under the hood... the fuse you are looking for is one of the "jumbo" or "maxi" fuses.
4-By-4
You guys are good! I looked in my manual, and the only thing I saw about trailer brakes is about hooking them into the hydraulic lines. Must have to look deeper. Anyway, the fuse on the stud #2 is gone. The lid says it's size is dependent on the use, it was a 30 amp. Strange the controller itself would blow a 30 amp fuse! The cable has the correct part number from the place I got it for an 03. Guess I'll search around for a pin out to make sure. Anyone have any links for that? thanks for the help so far..
