revrnd
When I was in Indy for the US Nationals, I picked up 3 PF49s figuring that's what my new truck would use (cheaper to buy in US than Canada). I was looking at the owner's manual today & I see the 6L now uses a PF44 filter Why did they change & what is the difference between the 2 filters? BDBWTE
That makes no sense. The motors haven't changed. Maybe a different way of routing wires or lines made the filter change is dimension..
revrnd
I picked up a PF44 today, so I'll check the thread diameter & pitch of the 2 different filters. The o ring is @ the outer diameter of the filter. I don't have a PF49 here, but the PF44 is shorter, by how much I'm not sure. I'll check out in the plant to see if I can hazard a guess as to why they may have made the change. Who knows, maybe the shorter filter (less steel & filter media) means GM saves 3 cents a filter per truck
