I am, see my signature below, that's what it came with (factory 20's) then I sold the 20's and went a direction most guys don't go...I went to same height but skinnier lighter tires and wheels, pizza cutters. I lost 4 lbs per corner making this move to 33x10's. I went to load range e tires as I never get flats, I gained 1.5" sidewall, and I have snow flake rated all terrains...and did all that while losing 4 lbs per corner! I noticed zero loss in performance and man do I ever have excellent traction in the slippery stuff as compared to my gladiator on 37x12.50's, night and day difference, the jeep is a drifting skating rink of a machine lol.

To add to this, I have a 4" lift, removed the chin spoiler, added the heavy high clearance side steps, chains, tools, recovery gear and 400 lb fuel tank, total added weight is 985 lbs...and I can still achieve rated hwy mpg if I behave at about 65 mph on cruise. Love the pizza cutters!

Thanks for this!  I wonder if I’ll notice loss in performance going 265/65/18 to 275/70/18?

I installed the Pulsar LT today. I haven’t seen anyone else with it on the 2.7L. This thing is sweet. So easy to install and “program”. Disabling Auto-Shutoff works like a charm and just increasing the throttle 15% is great!  There’s no more “lag” when hitting the pedal. Drivability is much improved. I recommend it.

When I get (slightly) larger tires my speedo won’t be off either.

Does the pulsar keep it from using AFM and staying four cylinder full time?

(sorry if this is a repost, had some trouble logging in and had to resubmit)

Has anyone else dealt with this noise?

It started when we had a very cold couple days here, -21F for two days with 50 MPH winds and the truck was left outside.

It pretty much went away for a couple days after but has returned again. I don’t want to open anything up and grease anything that isn’t meant to have grease and risk losing warranty on any parts.

I will be contacting the dealer about warranty repairs in the next couple days and also ask them to look at the transmission as even when warmed up (approximately 10 minutes) it can still feel like you are getting rear ended in the 1 to 2 shift. I’ve heard sometimes they replace the tranny fluid with a different fluid and that has helped some people.

Thanks for any replies.

Erik

What oil are you using? I have started mine down in the -25f range and my engine doesn’t make the valve clicking noise or the other noise at all. When it’s real cold I’ll go out and start it while I’m standing there so I can hear any weird noises. I’ve been using Mobil 1 0w-30 oil as recommended in the manual for conditions below -20f. I have also started it in sub zero weather with the stock 5w-30 oil (before the real cold weather hit) with no problems or noises. I change my oil between 3 and 4K miles if that makes a difference. As for the transmission clunk, is your truck new? Mine did that during the learning phase and ultimately worked itself out to where is shifts great no clunk.  I complained about it and the dealer might have reset it, forcing it to relearn where I live and not in a city where I had been. I think it’s constantly relearning and it hasn’t really done it since the first few thousand miles. Most likely a learning thing not a bad tranny thing but I’d take it in to the dealer if I were you.

The video isn’t mine, I just found it on YouTube of the same creak in the waste gate actuator when the engine is turned off. Also mine doesn’t tick like that.

I use Royal Purple 5w30 and change it around 3 thousand.

Ok, that’s good that engine sounded awful lol, I edited my post above about the tranny clunk. Hopefully it’s helpful.

Yeah it’s new. 2022 with around 8 thousand miles. I’m gonna take it in and have them take a look. Might as well.

thanks,

Absolutely not a normal sound. Electronic waste gate actuator is screaming at you. Your injectors are really noisy too.

I have 25000 miles on my 22' LTD and I have to let it go through start up BIT checks ( guages drive full over and back)  before rolling or turbo blow off valve will burble in that test since its opening and closing to test itself and make it hesitate and not smooth for lack of a better term. I operate the unit as cold as -15 F this year outside not windchill temp.  In that few seconds it clears up but its more of  a fart if you take of on cold start. Yours is out of range I bet thus the motor squeals.

I should have mentioned in my original post that it isn’t my video, my engine bay is much cleaner… Just making that same actuator noise. I don’t know what the cold did to it but it didn’t like it. But I was operating it in -60F wind chills.

he has some comments on the video that talk about his experience dealing with the dealerships about it. Hopefully it isn’t too big of an issue. Just embarrassing to have a noise like that when shutting down in a brand new truck.

I hear ya 5X5 on the videoed engine and yours.    FWIW machines don't "feel" windchill.  Why I made the comment.  Air temp more important. Surface temp a player too. Once you fire the engine then OAT means little except for heat exchangers and air intake. You are mostly generating heating internally to counter all the different temps once warmed normally.

Yea, my truck makes this sound too. I recall it only happening when it was really cold (im in South Carolina). A few times when it was down in the teens.

Darn, did you look into getting it fixed or is not often enough to really bother you?

I haven't looked into it. And I can't recall it happening anytime lately. It was really frequent when the temps were below 30's. But we've been warmer here the last month or so, and I haven't heard it in a while.

I’ve started my truck down to -30f (actual temps) with no funny noises like in the video, but not unusual for brand new properly functioning vehicles to make weird noises in those temps. Only way to know for sure is to take it in I suppose. It’s been a lot warmer this year so only got down to -30f one morning so far -10 to -20 is pretty common though. lately it’s been in the 20’s and 30’s,  almost t-shirt  weather! Lol
