Absolutely and lucky I got the the 2022 LTD Trail Boss Custom. That allowed me to get the L3B and 8 speed in a Trail Boss I had tried to order a few weeks earlier that would have had the 4.3 and 6 speed. I am really happy the order changed to the L3B and 8 speed. I also got a $2000 credit for the 2.7 in the LTD Custom.

I wanted a lifted truck for the snow and mud up here outback and was interested to see how efficient a high Tq turbo 4 would be and I couldn't be happier.

My record MPG is 41mpg for 50 mile average. BUT, that's coming down a mountain pass. At altitude on the highway, it's easy to get 26+mpg. Close to sea level, this turbo doesn't seem worth it to me.... but I'm rarely at sea level.

But in my daily life, which includes "city" driving, I'm closer to averaging 21mpg. The stop and go, slow traffic really brings down the mpg quickly. I know it's really really expensive, but a hybrid for speeds less than 10mph would give great mpg for this truck.

On board realtime scanning or I think I can see it cruising and about a 250 RPM drop that seems like an upshift when I am already in 8th. It's nearly imperceptible otherwise except MPG rise.

Linear Logic Scan Gauge II OBD tool can be programed to watch the AFM switching.

Grump, So I am feeling /seeing the RPM delta when the converter re-locks once on 2 cylinders?

The 2.7 doesn’t shut off any cylinders. This is only a feature of the 8’s

Just before it picks up the off line cylinders the converter unlocks then once all are firing again it relocks. It's a controlled slip. Cameron would be a better source of the fine detail. He tunes and reads with HP Tuner.

Hey All!

As of 12/31/21, I'm a proud owner of a Shadow Gray Metallic 2022 Silverado LTD Custom Crew Cab 2.7L 4x4! Roughly 875miles on it now. I live in the DC metropolitan area so my driving is just about a 50/50 split. I'm hand calculating around 20-21mpg, but my truck is saying 17.5-18.1. I'm assuming that the truck will get a little more accurate with more miles added? Any input on this discrepancy could be greatly appreciated.

5% tint on sides and rear

45% front windshield

Congrats and that color is amazingly deep, same as my custom trail boss.

My DIC calc is within +/-0.3 mpg most of the time. The manual says the computers are fully "learned up" ( my term LOL ) until 4000 miles but even hand calculations with variation at pump, ambient temp, shut off valve etc will vary. Over time the values will normalize enough for knowing what it is achieving.

I have 2300 miles on mine and love it. No complaints at all. Amazed you are seeing that good of mpg in traffic around DC. It will get better than that over time.

Drive for the TQ capability not fuel wasting RPM thumps and it will improve.

Gorgeous color. Looks almost deep blue from that angle. Love the tint. My sons god father owns his own tint business and that is always one of the first upgrades I get.
MPGs will always vary between drivers and trucks. There are guys on forum here that can get close to 22 with their 6.2Ls. I’ve never come close to that. I’m right at 19.5-20 mpgs.
Your truck will loosen up a bit and you can squeak out better mileage as long as you aren’t getting into that “turbo” too much. And from what I hear/read from other guys. It’s a fun little engine and loves to be spoiled up. It’s the only engine I haven’t driven yet. Can’t find one on the lots. The new one should be even better with rumored now 430 lbs of TQ.

I have four GM products on the lot. Two of them are like @customboss, on the money. Two others are 8-8.5% high of the hand calculation. Always have been. :dunno:
