I can confirm that driving in 4 cylinder mode all the time has slowed oil usage. Plus the RLI 5w30 burns really clean By tail pipe deposits observations.  Hopefully continued use of RLI slows oil usage even further.

Yea. Mine does it.

Unrelated....

Just finished a long week of travel. I had to let the oil change go to ~6400 miles. OLM is at 14%. I had to add about 1.5 quarts over this interval. One morning I checked it and it was only about 1/8 showing on the dipstick. Gotta keep an eye on that oil level when the interval gets over 3000 miles, that's when mine starts consuming oil. Still managed to get 20mpg running 75-80 on the highway tho.

I will be doing an oil change this weekend, and starting with the RLI 5W30 oil. I am going to stick with my 5000 mile intervals (as best I can) or ~30% on the OLM.

IMNTBHO;  you really need to think about 5W40.....................

Or 0w40 for cold areas.
Your opinion is pretty close to science Bro! 😉

Slide back up the thread here and check it out. My friends at RLI have Biosynthetic 5w30 for sale that was an overrun and I bought two cases like many here for dirt cheap prices. Good stuff.

Ok thanks. I'm super impressed with this 2.7. I actually think it's better to drive then both my 5.3s. Feels way more responsive then they did and gets up and goes when i step on it. I was definitely nervous getting this engine in a truck but absolutely love it. Just hope it last and is as trouble free as my 06 and 15s were.  Both had well over a hundred thousand and had no issues.

The 2.7 you have is a great engine.

Quick update on my first 2500 miles with the RLI 5W30. I had to top off about 1/3 of a quart this morning. Pretty much what I expect as far as oil consumption goes with my truck. So the RLI has not mitigated that at all. Oil still looks good tho. Nice amber color. Usually I’d see dark oil by this time in an interval.

I’m at 30% OLM and 5,400 miles 1 qt consumed. For $3.50 qt and clean consumption I’m good with it! Mine is also veggie amber coloration.

BTW the MIL code for emissions vapor control reset and staid out after dealer received pigtail for vapor pump. Told them to store on shelf at dealer for future.

My 22 trailboss threw a code and had to replace the evap purge pump (pretty sure that’s what it was called lol). Dealer said they had to do a bunch. Mine was covered under extended warranty and was fixed quickly. Had zero ill effects. I hate all these friggin emissions. This was at 40k miles. I pretty much expected to have an evap failure of some kind around 40k, maybe I have bad luck but it happens with all my cars no matter the brand, mainly due to dust on my farm I think. This is still my most favorite truck I have owned and I’ve owned a bunch!

Going in to the dealership for the first time in having this truck next week. For two software bulletins.

One is for the waste gate actuator programming. This will hopefully eliminate the “goosehonk” when shutting down.

Second one is a fairly new campaign. It’s an injector flow rate software programming.

They asked my mileage and I said I’ll be around 116,000 when I bring it in. They didn’t indicate I was going to have to pay for anything but will see when I take it in.

Gosh guess I did good going 60,000 miles before mine crapped out. Very dusty here too.

Surprised the expert of all things underbody @Grumpy Bear didn't comment.
