Window Tint in CA

Recommended Posts

Growing up in Southern California, I tinted the front windows in multiple vehicles.  That said, I did get pulled over from time to time for a fix it ticket.  If you get a lighter shade of tint up front your less likely to get pulled over.

All of our vehicles are tinted and never had an issue. Just don't go too dark on the fronts, and don't drive like an **** and you'll be fine.

If you're near Orange county, give visions tint a call. That's where we get all of our vehicles done. Lifetime warranty on bubbling and such

Yup I am in Huntington Beach. What tint grades do you guys recommend for rear vs fronts. I want privacy but don’t want to be pulled over for a fixit ticket. Also, does tiny always bubble over time or if installed properly can last over a decade? Thanks

If you end up at visions, do the medium on the front, and dark on the back. I've got dark all the way around and it's a little too dark in the front.

My dad has had their tint on his 04 Silverado since he bought it, and it looks the same today as when he got it done. It sits outside all day every day since 04, no bubbles. And if they do, visions has a lifetime warranty, and they'll redo it for free

Thanks for the 411 on tint.  I plan on going dark on the back but am too much of a P$$$Y to do the front for now; I am afraid it would be a rousting magnet.

If it influences you any more, my dad has never been pulled over for tint in 14 years, and neither have I in the year I've had mine!

What was your rational with leaving the rear windows stock vs going darker? thx

I have been happy leaving it that way on my past two trucks so continued to do it that way. Some people like darker but you can do whatever you want on the back windows

I have 5% on back 3 and 12% in the front. Looks like I have my windshield tinted also from how dark my windows are. Definitely paranoid lol

That makes sense since the back 3 already come tinted from the Dealership.  Would you say the 12% front is what is making you paranoid? Maybe I should go half that %.  Does having a rear window slider make the tinting process more problematic?

Oh yeah definitely. The front are super dark haha I think even a 20% would be fine in front. The guy who did my windows didnt mention anything about it being difficult. They should know how to do them just fine if you go to a good job. I was worried about it too at first but it came out great.
