F-150’s have no issue with the brakes failing like the GM vacuum pump failure issue.

Go on Ebay and search “2014 Silverado rear axle” and look at all those 2014-2016 crashed trucks. Get a locker rear axle complete for a lowly $1k with less than 60,000 miles.

Pretty good deal. If you wanna risk your life with that belt driven vacuum pump that might fail and you will have no brakes.

You want to bet?

My brakes failed on one of my F150's going through an intersection in NYC. It was a red light and thank God, there was no one crossing the intersection at the same time. I had to use the E brake and then get flat bedded to a dealer. Sold the truck soon as it was repaired.

Bought 5 more Ford trucks after that with no problems until my 2018 5.0L POS.

Read prior post.

GM and Ford Trucks= Death.

I got my letter in the mail this month from GM saying they know my belt driven vacuum pump for the brakes may fail and lead to death...but don’t worry....warranty extended on that part.

I love when fan boys get all defensive about their brand loyalty. Lol. Who the f cars. They all have problems , no one is better than other.

Most of them use parts from the same supplier. Brand loyalty is stupid at this point.

No, the letter told you that the pump could fail and you won't have boosted brakes. Your brakes will still work, they just don't have the assistance of the brake booster. As long as you don't have wimpy chicken legs, you could still press the pedal and slow down. Vastly different from the lawsuit against Ford for F-150 brakes that fail because the master cylinder can't apply hydraulic pressure to the calipers, as in the brake pedal just goes to the floor and nothing happens.

I know a guy that had the brakes fail in his 2013 F-150. Pedal went right to the floor and he nearly had a heart attack.  Ford had the nerve to brush off the major concerns he had about the unsafe brake system in his truck and told him they weren't going to cover the repair under warranty.

My last 6 trucks wee either F150 or F250. I traded my 8month old F150 Lariat 5.0L for a 2019 AT4 6.2L.

All my previous Fords were great trucks, but the 2018 was a POS. My 5.0 was using a qt of oil every 3000 mi. The trans shifted like crap. Fords answer was to rip my 8 month old 50K+ truck apart and put in a new engine. Basically the same one that is using oil.

I took a hit and dumped it. So far (500 mi) I am very pleased with my swap. Time will tell. Trans shifts great, DFM is unnoticeable, 6.2 Perf Pkg is a beast, and MPG isn't that bad.

Don't both those trucks have the same transmission? Seems like it could be luck of the draw as to how well each one shifts.

GM and Ford probably use different mapping software. The 10spd was developed by both, but go to an F150 forum and look at the complaints.

I've had my custom TB a week now and my observations are these coming from a 2017 XLT 5.0 6 speed FX4. The power difference is noticeable. 5.3 is not in the same class as the coyote. hoping that mods are available soon. my XLT had a lot of conveniences that i may miss but i don't mind a more basic truck. its a glorified W/T and i new that goin in. never had a problem with my ford nor the 4 before it. hoping that chevy can deliver the same quality or it will be back to Ford.

Ford F-150 brake failure sparks massive class action lawsuit

The master cylinder defect results in an almost complete loss of stopping power on the F-150.

I feel the same way, I am hoping for the best with my new 2019 Silverado. So far, so good except for a few handling issues but I think I've fixed that. Still getting used to the jarring thud every time I start the engine and quickly shift to Drive. That was coming from a 2016 F-150 XLT Supercrew 4x4 with 302A. Interior in my RST feels better than my F-150 though. So far, so good. No warranty repairs, have never had any done on my 2012 and 2016 F-150's.

Handling issues? mine is a bit squirrely so i thought it was just the lift and the off road tires. was there something else you encountered?

basically i bought a poor man's raptor so i expect some differences from my Ford.

Just traded in my 2017 F150 3.5L Eco for a 2019 LT Trail Boss with the 5.3L V8....  huge difference between the two from a power standpoint, but ain't nothing wrong with my new V8 either.  Sure, the twin turbos were nice to have when I pulled my old boat but they had to work really hard more times than not so the gas mileage suffered because of it....  day 1 of my new truck so I'm sure I'll be to provide more comparisons down the road but so far, so good!

The back end fishtailed badly on a very bumpy but straight road. I wasn't braking or accelerating and had to swerve to avoid hitting a pedestrian when the back got way off wildly. Now I have a camera just in case my truck runs over somebody. It was enough to really piss me off but it turned out my tires were 10psi above the recommendations. I corrected it and it helped a lot. The front end stays planted, and handles well, but I can't say the same for the back. I'd rather have it so that all four tires handle the same. Now, if the road was not bumpy, there is no doubt the Silverado handles better than the F-150.
